Default Taking small scale Big: Unlimited Offroad Expo

For those of you in the area or looking for a good time, the Unlimited Off-road Expo is approaching in Louisville, Ky. It will be open to the public on June 21-22. This is a huge event with a 4 acre outdoor expo course setup where the stars of SRRS, Ultra4, SXSs, and the Mega Mud Truck series will be showcasing their driving skills. Also there are hundreds of vendors setup indoors displaying the latest and greatest products, which is where we come into play.
We have been invited out to put our mobile RC Rock crawling demo course on display. Axial has stepped up and we will have demo rigs on hand for people to test their skills and see what the difference is between hobby grade and toy grade RC crawlers.
The course is 16'x6' and even has a live water feature. At its first event, most people thought it looked easy, only 5 of 42 competitors completed the course. We are pumped to be at the show and hope to see some fellow RC crawler guys out in attendance. Make sure and stop by to say hi, test your skills, and see what we have to offer.

Awesome! I'll be there with my U4 rig.
Can I play on the course or is it for demo rigs only?

10lbs+ or anything with a lot of metal work. Just don't want to take any chances being so far from home and having to run it for 2 full days. We are gonna do some upgrades to the structure to help with integrity and aesthetics also. Added some greenery and have more to add around the top edges also.
Also let my 10yr old son do some pre running with one of the demo rigs to make sure they were capable enough. With the right lines, they can run 90% of the course.

Started getting show rigs ready so we can display mild to wild builds along with the stock rigs.

Having built, transported, used that style of course for years... put another coat on it. Looking at it, I can see it is less than 1/4" and wont last.

You could easily add a layer of Hydrocal plaster w/ a tint added to give the "ground" some natural looking color that won't wear off. This is a typical scenery technique used in model railroad construction.

Well we repaired and touched up a couple spots. Added a guard rail at the top around the water feature to prevent rollovers and allow/teach people how to use an obstacle to pivot on for tight turns. Also added another bridge at the base of PullPal hill to allow the stock demo rigs to utilize the whole course. We didn't make it easy by any means though, the right lines are still required throughout the course.

Also figured since I had nothing else going on(ha!!) that we should have a mega mud truck for display so that we have all aspects of the 1:1 rigs being represented outside, in our booth as well. Decided to do a build heavily inspired by Opelicious V.

Will finish welding it up this evening and hit the road in the morning.
Hope to see some fellow RC enthusiasts at the show and possibly put some faces with names.

Well we are in town and will be setting up tomorrow at the expo. The course survived the 800 mile haul with only one very minor defect. Already met with a couple of the show promoters at the hotel and they are digging it.
They are finishing up the outdoor race course tomorrow as well.

Setup yesterday went well. Some very cool stuff moved in and we have an amazing booth space. We will finish dressing it up today and be ready for day 1 on saturday.
One of our Axial reps was able to make the trip so he'll be hanging out and we've also decided to do a raffle for a brand new Axial Jk Unlimited RTR.
If you're in the area come on out Saturday and Sunday for a great show with tons of entertainment both indoors and out.
