| $5 Locker MOD (JB Weld)
Here's a quick and easy way for locking your diffs, if your worried about them unlocking. Can be done while building or can easily be done after built. Remove red lock ring and wipe grease off and wipe of from plastic case shoulder. Then with some fine sand paper, scuff the plastic shoulder it sits on and mix JB weld. Using tooth pick spread small amount on shoulder and also some on red lock ring and the (3) pins that sit into diff case. Assembly red lock ring back onto diff case and with light pressure push together until a small bead is seen around edge, ensuring that they are secure. Allow to dry & cure overnight and re-assemble the next day. PICS: |

Anyone looking to do this can go to Autozone and get a stick of "quick steel", It hardens to steel in about 5 minutes, a lot faster then jb weld..

Instead of jb'n just the red locker ring to the diff houseing i went a step further and filled every nook and cranny between all the gears. There has been some cases of the pins actually sheering off of the red locker. It hasn't broke on me yet! |

So you welded the ring & pinion.... or just the spiders gears, in the case??? I'm assuming you welded the spiders gears, since the ring & pinion have to be free for movement. For those reading DO NOT just fill the axle diff housing with JB weld... Weld either the red lock ring or the spider gears, inside of the actual diff in the pics. Chris |

Yes that would be correct, just the spider gears jb'd together. "NOT THE RING AND PINION!!!!" if you did however, you would just a permanent $5 dig unit thanks to jb weld |
