| Hello from Sacramento
Greetings all I just moved up to a crawler, got a used rig on ebay with brushles, 2.4, alloy diffs (fully locked). I just tore it down to clean, and rebuild. bought a ax10 custom frame on ebay and will try to get it working, I wil post pics for comment. here is the frame any shock or link mounting suggestions? |

Here are some more before teardown, it has a 3700kv outrunner,(turnigy) and a integy brushles esc. I need to learn how to program the darn this, as the startup throttle is to much. I have already ordered HR lockouts, new drive shafts from Junfac, and the stage 2 kit, I might have gone a little overboard but hey thats what RC is all about right??? |

Thx everyone, I am an Army officer just stationed in Sac, and needed a new hobby. anyone meet up to crawl on the weekends around here? also I just found a nasty stripped set screw.... I ordered new drive shafts so I wont dig this one out until they arrive, but crap those tiny buggers are a pain in the you know what.. I think I will put a larger screw with more head on it, I dont think the rotational mass will throw anything off balance, take a look ....thoughts? and the stripped set screw |

first thing get a new motor. That is way to crazy for a crawler. It will go fast but it won't crawl good.

Yea i think it might be as well, it has a 14t pinion. its an outrunner, and has crazy torque, but it really sensitive of the start. I have a few esc's and i suppose I just need a new motor. Will and older novak rooster take lipo?? |

so in my teardown and reading I understand I need to add weight to the front wheels... so I had an idea, looking the the rims they have the posts that i assume are for screwing in the weights sold by venom. I like the idea of adding some adhesive weights to the inside, but i dont want to go to pepboys... so what about lead solid core wire??? I went to walmart and bough 3/8 solid core wire, 1lb. $4.48 w/tax after wrapping the wire around the rim it fits perfectly two wraps takes the total weight without foam and tire to 3 3/8oz, i think that will be good. at least for me hopefully i have added something that everyone can use. Woohoo |

Yes the rooster will take lipo,2s max, with a smart stop or a lipo cut off or even a buzzer it will take 3s, its just not recommended by novak.. but other crawlers have done it.. a new motor will do ya good, brushed... I run a I integy 45t with a 15t Pinion.. others a 55t with a 19t Pinion.. depends on what ur looking for.. I comp with mine an can do scale trail if I Want... The weight pa to each there own. I have 6oz added up front an 3oz in the rear wheels.. Last edited by winnerone23; 07-01-2012 at 09:24 PM. |

What make an how many oz of torque? I have always started with 6oz up front an 3oz in the rear.. I run the same on my scale rig with a hobbico cs-170 with 333oz of torque. An I'm over the 6oz in the front of my creeper, I'm running I hitec 7950 at 6.9v so around 445oz of torque, a couple Jr 8711 with 403oz in my moa an my mrc.. I haven had any problems with my servos turning the weight.. I have a friend that runs over 8oz up front an he just came up to a spare hobbico of mine with 333oz from a hitec 645 with 133oz.. he never had a problem, just wanted more..

I run 6oz a tire on the front and 4 a tire in the back. It does make a difference with steering but if you have a servo with 300oz of torque or better they dont really notice to much.

Don't forget a cc Bec for it, it will help keep constant juice to the servo an will keep ur esc from working too hard.
