AX10 climbing board at 57 degrees

Sorry about the bad quality guys, all I had was my phone.

Got the car to climb at about 57 degrees, but that doesn't seem normal. I've seen near stock AX10's doing steeper! As you can sort of see in the video, I have a lot of torque twist that I just can't seem to figure out.

Here's the build:

Thats pretty steep though..Always gonna have some torque twist with a shafty, only moa will cure that completly. Lots of variables..... ya running a 4 link rearend?

Yep, 4 link front and rear.

What made me wonder, was because I saw a guy on Youtube climbing 65-68 degrees!

tklatti 09-05-2009 05:10 PM

Why ya running a 4 link front? How much weight ya running in tires?

2500hdon37s 09-05-2009 05:11 PM

no a stock ax-10 wont do that, i have about a 50 degree climb on my course and my ax-10 has trouble with it but the losi goes right up it

You have any pre-load on your left rear shock? Stiffer spring? Thicker oil? I can climb 65-68* with my GC-2 all day.

cool vid"thumbsup"

dirtyal 09-05-2009 07:23 PM

Heres my old GC1 doing 60* without much tuning. My GC2 blows that away but I cant find a vid of it.

With the torque twist, you did all that in 3 wheel drive too"thumbsup"

It was part of the batt/servo plate.

Only a little preload, because I was a little worried about losing my articulation. I've been looking at the YSS chassis- but can't justify the ridiculous price.

haha- I guess your right. So how do I crawl something steeper with all 4 wheels?

Post up a pic of your links from side and top angles. Your roll center could be tweaked I bet.

A set of Axial overdrive gears for the front axle would help a LOT.

ARTICULATION is overrated and part of your torque twist problem in a shafty. just try simply loading up the springs with spacers on your left rear and right front. Did that to my axial and it keeps all 4 tires firmly on the ground and climbs most anything you point it at...

it would have to be made, but i would guess if you make a copy of the anti rock sway bar it would work pretty well. I've got one on my jeep and it works awesome.
