thats a jump I built for my exo a few weeks ago. I had no idea if the TWH would clear it so I just hit it full throttle the first time and it clears it perfectly! Haha and it flies very balanced! Seems to land on its wheels every time! Wish I could say that for my exo.

The sway bar in the rear would help high speed turns I think. If I get one ill post a before and after video for comparison. There's a lot of body roll and torque twist (which is to be expected for a shaft driven rock crawler/racer)

But it jumps impressively well. We'll balanced! The suspension soaks up landings well too!

That was all stock. I'll replace the ESC with a sv3 soon so i will post a vid on 3s

Let me know if that helps the throttle lag in low gear. I've heard it's the radio, but it seems like esc to me.

I want to see it crawl. (hint hint)

I'm not using the stock radio. I'm using a DX3C.

I wish it were slower in low gear. It's low gear is faster than any of my scalers. But I like 55t motors with 15tooth pinions in my scalers so i like em real slow.

Plus the stock forward/brake/reverse setting drives me nuts while crawling. So I dont think ill ever really crawl this one. Just trophy truck-like speed mostly.

It's too fast to crawl at my crawling speed. I imagine most people who run 27t or 35t motors in their scalers will like the low gear speed though.

Sorry for the vague answer. Vague answer for vague question.

The exo is wider. Lower. Faster. Has 3 open diffs. Has independent suspension all around.

It's hard to compare them because they're not in the same category IMO.

It's like asking how does that scx10 compare to the Slash?

there is a crawler mode that you can set the stock ESC TO, It is a pain to do it and took me a few attempts but it works "thumbsup"

Great answer. I have an EXO and love it, but I don't want another one. I see this truck as a perfect "in between" truck that bridges the gap between crawlers, and trucks like the EXO. Someone was really paying attention to the wants of the crawling crowd when they came up with this... (I suspect Rubba)

I can't wait to get one of these...I may have to up the crawler budget for next month

i got to rip one of these around at my local hobby shop today... the guys asked if we wanted to test it out and we said friggin rights.."thumbsup" im impressed handles bumps and corners well.. the torque twist is a little much but its still a very easy rig to drive..

they have a 2 speed trans low/high gears and a double tap reverse.. my LHS was selling them for $400.00 includes rig,DX3E rx/tx, lipo and charger... if i was gonna get another rc this would be it..."thumbsup"

heinie_21 02-16-2013 09:10 PM

Re: Vaterra Twin Hammers Jumping video: want to see what a stock one is capable of?

good info there ax10wannabe. I read recently that you can put the ESC in "crawler mode" which eliminates the double tap reverse setting to immediate reverse with drag brake. It's a pretty good value if you ask me. $400 for EVERYTHING you need to get up and running. Even batteries for your TX haha! I think it might be replacing my EXO.

Re: Vaterra Twin Hammers Jumping video: want to see what a stock one is capable of?

thanks heinie..."thumbsup"

another thing i noticed is that the driveline and stuff has been beefed up from the factory.. its a rig that you could pull out of the box charge up the battery and have fun without breaking stuff right away and having to upgrade... i think it will give the exo a run for its money"thumbsup"

Re: Vaterra Twin Hammers Jumping video: want to see what a stock one is capable of?

thought i'd post this video here as well. since it's a thread about stock twin hammers. this video is all stock but running a 3s compatible esc and 3s lipo
<iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/93atTsfq2Eg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
this footage came before my pro4 swap. It's with a cc sv3, stock motor, and 3s lipo. it was a fun setup.
