Harley's TCS X-Trail

Sorry, not much can be done about the USPS shipping system when shipping to Canada. These will only be available through TCS.
I have this posted in the 1.9 build thread as well but here it is again for you AX-10 guys.
Muddauber7 and I designed the roof rack of this rig with the intention of having some special little touches. The first of which was fairly obvious, the light rack. The roof rack would not have looked right if we didn't have the lights to fill that gap.
However the next touch was something that I have never seen anybody do in RC. What I wanted to do was have interchangable side plates that bolted onto the roof rack with 2 2-56 screws. The plan was to have these laser etched from Delrin.
Here were the initial design renderings:

So after I compiled a list of different side plates I wanted I sent them off to John for a much more artistic touch.
I told John what my ultimate goal was and sent him the CAD file with the outter shape of the plate. I didn't care what he did because I knew whatever it was the end result would look killer.
John e-mailed me a few days later telling me that he found some different material and threw some of those in as well. He wouldn't tell me what it was or send me any pictures, he wanted to make me sweat it out while in shipping
Well the box arrived last night....................WOW!
You have to remember these are 3/8" tall and about 1.5" wide. The detail on this stuff is incredible!

We're working on the patent paperwork and production of these leafs at the same time. When both are done, we'll have them up on the site for sale as protos. We should have both 1.5mm and 2mm thick leafs available. The 1.5mm leafs will be good for lighter rigs with just a basic chassis and light body. The 2mm leafs are for heavier rigs with hard bodies and more accessories.
We should be able to do the proto leafs for $15 for a set of 2, $30 to do the entire truck. That includes the hardware and bushings. The protos will not have the holes drilled in them where they mount to the axle. I hope to have these available for you guys late next week.

These springs are not designed to be used that way. There are plenty of options available for a traditional leaf spring setup.
So could I use some hi-lift leafs and shackles on the x-trail somehow? Just bolt the shackles to the side like you did your leafs? New holes would probably be need Im sure. I havent had a leafed rig before so sorry for the noobish questions.
High Lift perches and shackles could probably be used but bruiser arch springs would be needed in the front.
The chassis can be very versatile you just have to play around with it.

Well I finally have a free weekend coming up. Depending on the weather I am going to get this thing out on the rocks.
We are going to get the roof rack finished first though. I found a cool place with a couple waterfalls that I want to take the rig to. I just hope that I don't end up having to go in the freezing cold water to retrieve anything.

ok, i asked this in the other thread, but i amgoing to ask again...
will these leafs work with any scale chassis you would use leafs on?
i really want to do bruiser framed truck with leafs and AX-10 axles, and so far these seem to be the only available leafs for those axles.

These have not been tried on any other chassis. These need to be mounted to the frame so the width would need to work properly. Since the Bruiser frame has a varying width I don't see them bolting up.
If you want to do a Bruiser chassis and AX-10 axles I would hit up Dinky R/C (Muddauber7) for some custom Centre Lifts.

i kind of figured something would have to be made up for the width, i was more concerned about the length for eye to eye of the springs...
either way, i may have to get a set of these and try to figure something out...

RC4WD Strait axles adapters, they were the only option since I didn't want to have to buy strait axle shafts and I refuse to only run one bearing on the stub axle with the RCP versions (although they do look good too).
