um, Houston?
A few days ago whoever runs the Traxxas page on Myspace sent out a bulletin announcing the E-revo. I replied back to the bulletin and had the following series of messages:

WHERE'S THE CRAWLER? Is Traxxas just going to ignore the crawler segment and let Axial, HPI, and Tamiya rule the roost?

Even though crawling is becoming more popular, most people like to build their own crawlers. The demand isn't too high.

I guess I can always hope that you're bluffing and a crawler is in development.

How about a 4wd Slash then?

thanks for the reply!

Crawling isn't really big at all, so I have my doubts on a crawler.

There is no info on a 4wd slash however, a nitro Slash may be in the works.

I know this is at best an employee of Traxxas, but still it bums me out that Traxxas would ignore the crawler segment. I always liked their stuff and plan to buy a Slash, but it would be cool to see a crawler in the Traxxas lineup.

i kind of think this person is a crawling hater. well i guess there just missing out then.

Without Traxxas, I don't think crawling would have taken off as well as it did. Stop and look at how many traxxas parts were used on TLT crawlers when this first started. Pede trannys in most of the rigs, Pede drive shafts or maxx drive shafts which most of us still run. Traxxas ball end links on the majority of the trucks, and several traxxas turn buckles. You can also add their shocks and rims to the parts list, and I am sure I missed a few items. So I don't see any reason to hate Traxxas.

As for the replys, and lack of interest in crawling, I am sure this is coming from one employee at Traxxas. And there is a good chance that he has no interest in crawling, and is only told so much about future plans.

With all of that said, I would rather see Losi or Associated come out with a crawler.

TRAXXAS is a hater they have like 40 employees and they dont like people with experience. They are kings of RTR not kits so your right they wont be crawling anytime soon.
But thats my 2 cents.

Good points but Ill always think traxxas sucks. Without the revo, I think the company wouldnt be around honestly. They are so behind on what they need to do to actually compete at events. There just another company (Well the grand daddy of these companies) that likes to suck in noobs with there huge mph's stamps on there box..

Traxxas don't suck in noobs they give them what they want. I don't know what it's like in the U.S but over here people want lots of power straight away. People aren't interested in building and tuning thier cars anymore. I don't think a big company like traxxas can aford ignore crawlers for long. I think they could bring a lot to the table and really take crawlers to the next level.

You are clearly misunderstand the real business aspect of RC.

The Traxxas T-Maxx still outsells the Revo to this day. Like it or not compared to the Revo, the T-Maxx is what made Traxxas what they are and it has now worked for them. Also to be noted it was Traxxas that pioneered user friendly nitro, making other nitro classes fall into the idea of roto-starts and other user friendly additions.

Traxxas can't compete? Thats odd the Revo is a 6 time National champion. Sounds like a competition...its too bad the Revo sweeps up yearly and across the nation with wins.

Where would crawling be without the Rustler/Stampede trans? The TMAXX big bore shocks? It would still be around, but not nearly as accesible or as cheap.

Funny thats what sells. Racing products do not keep the industry running anymore. The thing holding RC at its current level of sales is purely bashers.

Unless you like being a hypocrite I assume you will no longer buy Team Losi products either (including wheels and shocks) as they have been focused on the Traxxas market now for over 1 year solid. Just like Traxxas they are making very fast claims and sticking them on RTR boxes. They are taking existing vehicles slightly modding them to become new RTR models to make people buy more of their stuff.

So drive down the road and punch one of them in the throat.

I saw the E Revo and it was pretty nice. If I was back in monster racing scene I would pick one up.

Traxxas makes some fun rigs. Their forum is a little strict but oh well. I am really looking forward to picking up a couple of Slash's.

It says on his page:

Welcome To The Traxxas® Myspace. Please feel free to leave comments about your experience with Traxxas, your favorite model ect.... Thanks for visiting!
(this site is not ran by a Traxxas employee)

Everybody's got the brand they don't like, and there's always the purists that think what they do it is the only way. Traxxas has been around for 20+ years for a reason. Half the people you crawl with probably got into RC because of a traxxas product. Not everybody into RC wants to be a wrench turning gearhead like some of us. That post on myspace totally sounds like a stadium truck elitist or something like that.

One of the LHS here, RC Unlimited in San Jose, CA had this dick employee that was a total crawler hater. I'd go in to get parts, and he would go on about how stupid the crawler people are, and how silly they are to spend so much money on that garbage... etc.. Helicopters are the way to go man, the only way to go... How could someone drive a truck when there are helicopters... gad, I had to just bite my lip because there was no arguing with the guy, totally out of touch. Especially considering 3/4 of the store he worked in is dedicated to Traxxas, Losi, Mugen, Onfa, and Team AE parts and kits... Needless to say that guy is thankfully gone and there is an entire wall dedicated to crawlers now. Kinda funny eh?

The guy that posted the myspace stuff is managing a silly myspace page, and I'd be surprised if he had half a clue what he's blathering on about. And I'm sure the folks that matter at traxxas are not turning their noses up at something like RC crawling. It's a money maker and especially since they are already 8/10ths of the way tooled up for it. Trust me, they're not clueless after the showing at RCX, I'm sure someone there is already looking at the prospect of it and you never know. I've had products for Traxxas, Losi and AE. and I'd buy any of them again. All lots of fun!!

E-Revo = Sweet. As far as Traxxas not helping crawling, that's one of the top 10 dumbest statements to ever come from someone that doesn't have a single digit post count. Go to the TLT forum and take out every truck with a Traxxas tranny, or a set of Traxxas wheels that was posted before June of '06. You'll have about 30 posts left. This sport would have been restricted to Clods if it weren't for Maxx and Pede driveshafts. Unless we used some AWESOME dogbones from AE or Losi "thumbsup"

I have i have been their to many times in the last 6 months and they are so getting donkey punched now."thumbsup"
