ok so im gonna be doing some christmas shopping and i wanted to get my little brother rockband 2 or guitar hero world tour

the way i see it if he wants to play video games id rather have him being more active than just sitting on the couch and mashing buttons on a control pad

i was just wondering wether any of you guys have played either or especially both games. and which do you prefer

paremeters:

-song list (*im guessing rockband is gonna take this one bcause of all their DLC)

-hardware quality (are the instruments well or cheaply made, and how responsive are they)

-overall gaming experience (which of the 2 have a better replay factor)

Ask JIA on this one! He is a expert on them and has both I believe;-) We can't go into WalMart without stopping for him Jeff and Megan playing them! He get's on the PS3, Megan is on the DS and Jeff is on the PS2.....I get stuck playing the Wii Mario Cart something:lol:

I haven't played RB2 but I have played RB1 and I own Guitar Hero WT.

Between the two I would suggest Guitar Hero, the drums are more releastic with the addition of the symbols.

The song list is pretty good on both, I prefer GT though.

My son just recently got the RB 1 and I just wasn't impressed too much with the drums or even the song selection. Now don't get me wrong, it's fun as heck. But I prefer guitar hero personally and will be picking up the WT sometime

I have the original Rock Band for PS3 and Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii.

I bought Rock Band 'cause the whole guitar thing never did anything for me.

So I've had Rock Band for about a year, bought the RB2 disc when it came out, and saw all the "good" songs showing up on Guitar Hero (three songs from Tool on there and Stranglehold from the Nuge )

Rock Band was a plug and play affair. Guitar Hero needed to be calibrated and the drums are still finicky. I calibrated the thing and I swear the cymbals and snare are a hair off. Instead of hitting them when you'd think you should it seems you need to hit them a little early. The tom is dead on.

Guitar Hero seems to have better songs by original artists but is VERY picky/sensitive on drums.

I have it for the Wii as well, I feel the exact same way. However when my little bro came down to KC yesterday he was killing the drums on expert and said there was nothing wrong with them. So I just figure I suck at the drums

Had GH, and played RB.

Sold GH cause it basically sucked after I played RB. I loved having the 4 people interacting together. Way more fun.

$.02

Oh man!!! My favorite other activity! I love Rock Band to death! But when I got it, GH didn't have drums. I have little experience with GH, so I can't really help you decide.

After I get all my new truck purchases out of the way, I'm totally getting everything I can, RB2, and GH WT. I have RB1 and two track packs for the lowly PS2, and play the drums, got 5 stars on all but 2 or 3 songs now. Lots of Gold stars too. :D

I think there's going to be a cymbal pack for the RB series, so don't let that sway you away and towards GH.

4 people playing is ridiculous fun.

dead even right now...

and yeah i have heard that the timing in ghwt was a little off. im kinda swaying toward rockband right now because the amount of downloadable content for it looks pretty impressive. paying an extra 5 dollars for 55 songs from rockband 1 doesnt seem too shabby
