I am looking at getting this charger as I already have a Duratrax Onyx 240. Wish I would have bought the 230 charger in the first place since I am wanting to run lipo batteries now. How long do you think it would take to charge a 2S 2000mah battery with the 230 charger? Would this be better than getting a Dynamite lipo charger (DYN4060)?

I would say the Onyx mainly because you have more control over the charge output to the Lipo. I have a Duratrax Piranha that I use for my Nimh packs and love it, and will probably pick up the Onyx230 when I jump to Lipo as well.

The 230 is ok, but I sold mine.

It's model memory keeps forgetting which amperage to charge my packs...I got tired of triple checking the dumb thing to be sure I didnt blow up a Lipo.

I have the 230, and love it. I will have to keep an eye on mine to see if it has the memory problem? So far so good.

As far as the charge time... depends? My 230 sets a safety timer of 2 hours for 2000mah, but im sure it takes less than half that time to charge.

Glad to hear Im not the only one!!I caught it the other day doing this.Glad I was standing there watching it

I think the 230 only forgets the amperage if you change a preset for the first time. Mine did it twice... both times just after I changed a preset. It is supposed to automatically choose the amperage based on the mah of the battery... but I found it more reliable if you go and put the amount in yourself. Since I did that, it has not changed the amps on any of my presets.

I'm going on 3 months with it and I love it.
