Well I am a huge fan of this car and I really really really want one, only problem is that it is nearly impossible. So the next best thing would be to build one. I can easily get an mk5 ford escort around here in the $250-$2500 range so it shouldn't be too expensive to start. Now comes the problem of the body kit. Thus far the only cosworth body kits I have found are in the UK, and they don't ship to the US. So I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. I also noticed that the Cosworth north America center in Torrence is looking for cnc programmers, which is what im going to school for atm:twisted:.
Here is the link to the body kit, its about half way down the page.

i don't know about the escort but When I had my focus you could buy all the cosworth engine and body panels from ford racing directly, really wanted to swap out the fenders for the wider UK ones and the cosworth 2.3l

favorite car

In my top ten favorite cars of alltime is a 1986 rs 200 cosworth escort which they made 200 so they would be legal in world rally racing and the street version had 660 hp 4wd tube chassis race car that did 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds. The race one was 880hp and was unreal and thats out of a 4 cyl. turbo. Didn't mean to highjack your thread but you should look them up if you don't know about them.

actually the rs200 did 0-60 in 2.1 seconds;-). I know about this car, and love it as well, but the escort is a little more fiesable:lol:.

I'm sure there's someone over here that could ship the body kit over to you it'll just cost you a lot. If I where you I'd have a close look around and see if you can find one on your side of the pond first though.

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for??

Did you notice how it said "Style" in that ad? I wonder what the fit and finish would be on a knock off kit.....

I just contacted the local Ford dealership and they say they have body parts available for the cossie. The actual original spare body parts! I know for a fact that the escort was uber succesful here and Ford here stills stocks every little spare to the last bolt. Why don't you take your chances with your local Ford dealers? A sample price for a front bumper here is 210 Euro plus vat.

you interested in shipping some stuff:lol:

I emailed the guy that sells the kit on eBay about p&p and he said it'd cost 199.99 gbp to send it to the USA.

OK I just got through the phone with Ford. You probably also need: mirrors, grill, headlights, side skirts and rims. That is what they said, I am no Ford expert. For exact pricing I need the part# so I can have my friend look them up in the computer. If you you have the part # post them here so I can become more specific.

By the way, why not buy a full car??? I also asked a guy I know about the parts and he told me it is not worth it buying the parts separately. Cossies can be found here from 10000 euro to 32000 euro so I guess they would be way cheaper in the US like everything else. This guy is truly obsessed with his Cossie:
