Border patrol and AZ DPS officers beat pastor

He was 78 miles from the AZ/Cal border.

My bad.

So you would be OK with random police searches at any time, anywhere?

No. But I guess you just don't get what I'm trying to say. If a cop stops you while your driving (he can anytime for pretty much anything really) and he has probable cause for a search you are getting searched. I'm shure your aware the states like Arizona, Cali and bordering states have major issues with illegals, drug trafficing, car theft and etc. If you feel fighting the police will get you anywhere go ahead.

The state and local police have been stopping and doing random checks(mechanical) on the major highways in my area of tractor trailers and LD and MD trucks pulling trailers for quite some time now. I guess this would be a violation of rights for some of you too. If the officer suspects illegal substances or activities during his checks should he just let them go? If your on a public road or public land and there probable cause of search OK. If your on private land or a private road a search is going to need a warrent unless there is complaint or permission of the property owner.

I'm not for goverment control and invasion of privacy but if there is a problem in the area (as was on my local highways) chances are law enforcement might try to hinder it.

Exactly. People jump on the bandwagon that if you have nothing to hide, why not let them look. This guy was drving down the highway. He was not crossing the mexican border. By giving them this, we are just inviting future problems. Whats next? The powers that be might feel that to control drugs, or most likely guns, they should be able to search your home just because. And as long as they are in your home, they should go ahead and give you that manditory vaccination that contains a computer chip that tells them where you are. Its a real slippery slope, and most people are soaping up their feet to make it easier for the government.

I dont think you understand....if they are there, they are going to look. How easy the situation falls out depends on how the civilian handles the request. If you dont agree, take it up in court....at a later date. Resisting will only cause you immediate problems.

Everyone sure does like to bitch about the cops, but you happen to need one, all bitching is set aside...

The problem is we don't hear enough about them doing what they are supposed to be doing...catching the baddies. Usually the only time something comes up is when they harrass an "innocent".

Bad news spreads like wildfire and there isn't as much interest in the good as the bad. I'm not really a fan of law enforcement but my neighbor of over 20 years is a retired state trooper and he is one of the good guys.

Correct. The teacher never remembers the good kids in the class....

I have learned over the years when going through DWI check points its yes or no answers. Quickest way to make your night/day go very bad is to refuse to answer or get out when they tell you to.

If your in an area that is know for drug and human trafficking let'em answer the f'n questions, let'em look in your trunk. If there is nothing there you have nothing to worry about. To me it would make you very suspect if you refuse.

and by the new laws, any border check point anyone can be searched with out cause or warrant. Top that with the fact he was ignorant with them from the get go.

Again, the point is that our freedoms are being eaten away on a daily basis, and nobody has a problem with this?

I am sure there are good cops out there somewhere. Maybe. But the point being that they really should not have any right to search him. When it was all said and done, the guy did not have anything on him. In another day and age this guy would have been called a patriot for standing up for what he believes in. But today people call him a douche for not letting the goverment ass rape him at anytime they see fit. The only thing missing from the tape was when they asked him is he was ready to eat his cockmeat sandwich.

Looks like the beat the fear of God into him.

There is laws clearly written and he was actually resisting arrest by locking himself into the vehicle. Also a police officer in many states only need probable cause to search...which can be the tiniest thing depending on the state.

Well, would you prefer that all criminals be allowed to continue on their merry way or for you to be slightly inconvenienced? Personally, I choose the latter...

If my county wants to put up a DWI check point to stop even the slightest impaired driver I'm for it. I have seen WAY to many head on collisions due to it. Amazing after 6 months of checkpoints DWI's dropped way down. Now we get a checkpoint every now and then I'll deal with it.

Hell due to the way I look when I'm tired I have been given sobriety test while pumping gas. Hell the last one wanted me to say my ABCs backwards because he just knew I was drunk. Guess thats what I get for using a gas station at 4am that is a police substation as well.

No matter what is going on, getting ignorant with a cop gets you no where fast. Deal with it and take up the complaint/court side the next day. Same for that professor that got arrested in his own house, he just did what was asked of him and kept his mouth shut he would have been fine.

The main point is that you have the right to refuse a search if you want. He wasn't at a border. I have been pulled over on my way to Florida before and the cop told me I was on a road that a lot of drug dealers drive on. He asked could he search my car, I said no. He asked did I have something to hide and I said no but I didn't feel like sitting on the side of the road for no reason. He said he would call the drug dog out to sniff my car and if he "Hit" on it that they would search my car. I said do what you have to do.

30 minutes later the dog arrived. The K-9 cop walked him around my car two times. The dog did nothing. In German the K-9 cop told the dog to speak. Keep in mind that my brother trains drug dogs here where I live and I help him do so. So the cop says "The dog hit on your car so we are going to search it" I asked him if his dash cam was on. He said yes. I said good. He asked why. I said because when this goes to court I'm going to love pointing out to the jury that you made the dog speak. That I help train drug dogs and know what you just told the dog to do.

The cops then stopped and started whispering to each other and then told me to have a nice day.

Road block here have been made illegal. They are called "Safety Check Points" now. Because stopping someone without PC is illegal. What they did was excessive use of force. You do have the right to refuse a search if you want. Until they have PC they cannot search you. If he takes this case to court he will win.

Nice. You didn't get the memo? The Constitution is obsolete now. We only hve the rights they decide to "allow" us. Thank you Patriot act.

yeah, but I didn't think that applied to "white folk".:?

Oh, it most especially applies to the "white folk". It basically applies to real Americans, and not for the reasons you have been given. 9/11 was the big chance a lot of the government was waiting for to have an excuse to strip us of our freedom and rights. And we'll knuckle under and say it's ok because they're "fighting terrorism"

I've spoken to people who are actually ok with the government tapping their phone lines, or watching them on video 24/7, whatever, because they have "nothing to hide". Having "nothing to hide" is not the point people, wake up!

Haha!! That is so classic. Since the dog smelled nothing, he simply told him to bark for the dash camera so he could "legally" search your car anyway. A shining example of how a cop will do whatever the hell he pleases if you let him. Nice one Kenny!! I wish I could have been there to see their faces when you let them know you were not clueless to their antics!!

I agree with the fact that they were both in the wrong some.....especially the officers. But the guy has been asking for it.....not his first youtube video of stuff like that.
