Fix the Red Ring of Death on your Xbox 360

Tried that, got a lovely note back with my xbox explaining that it was out of warranty, and they would not repair it. I'm fixing a co-worker's tonight who bought a refurb that microsoft refused to look at since it had been opened by the refurb place

microsoft will fix anything even it it doesnt have warrenty, my buddy got 2 360's fixed and shipped for 200, with all new gutts, and sometimes they will ship out a referbed one

Maybe they just don't like me :?:

Doesn't really matter to me though...the guts don't need replaced there's nothing wrong with them, the flaw is the cheasy way they attached the heat sinks, and that they haven't fixed. Besides....this fix costs less than $20.00 8)

you know this is kind of related. as I understand it from a few gamer shops i have talked to around here. There is a website that anyone from PS#, XBOX and Wii will be able to run a program as long as they are internet connected to play any of the games against eachother if they are multi player games. So say I want to play HALO on my PS3 online, well on PS3 i cant, but in this gamer website I will be able to. Has nayone else heard of it. I hear there are BETA testers on it now, but i dont know the name of the website.

It's an internet poll...who said they had to include their serial number and all that? Who said they actually even had to own an Xbox360 before clicking "mine failed"?

Also the law of averages states...the more you sell the more problems you will have. Both companies are over producing to meet demand...thats never good for quality.

actually those numbers are from NPD Group reports.
i was mistaken in a previous thread in stating the 54.2% fail rate of the 360 came from a microsoft press release.
check out some forums like Gaf, and you'll soon see NPD reports are taken as doctrine. btw NeoGaf is the forum games press and developers hang out in. so good luck on trying to land an account if you dont have an in, or any published work. ive been waiting over a year with weekly follow ups for my confirmation.

and if you want to quote law of averages. then the wii and ds should have at least a 75% fail rate. there was actually a point where the wii sold double the units as the ps3, ps2, psp, 360, iphone, and itouch combined  . jeez talk about the rise of casual gaming.

had a 360 given to me with the red ring, fixed it simularly , got rid of the x plate and used plastic washers to space the heatsink/motherboard gap. used some arctic silver. heated it up to let the solder re-solder itself.
worked great for about two weeks and then it started red ring again, so i reheated and redid everything to make sure there wasnt a gap between the heatsink and chip. it worked again but only for about two days and it got worse and worse each time.
I even left it out of the 360 case and riged up a box fan and shroud to it and it still died.

I am done with it , sicken with my pc and ps3 slim combo.
I honestly think the ps3 is just plane a better machine for the price.
you get:
more reliable system.
blue ray
bigger hard drive that is just a sata laptop drive so u can swap in like a 500gb for 100 bucks if you wanted.
free online .
better controller by far
most of the same games, except the lame halo crap( im pc fanboy soo yea halo is my biggest hatred)
some cool exclusives like metal gear 4( one the best games ive ever played) gran turismo.

Forza 2 and 3 own the entire Gran Turismo series.

I prefer the X360 controller but I tend to stick to racing games...no one wins that war, thats just personal opinion based on games you play.

The simple facts on the ps3 yld are this. The failure rate is ALOT higher than sony admits to. They refuse to relase the actual figures because it would make them look bad.

Dont believe me, google ps3 yellow light of death and read the BBC watchdog report.

The only thing a PS3 is good for is the blu ray player. And even thats questionable.

I will stick with my xbox, better graphics, more support and a better warranty.

Best buy is selling an elite package right now for 299. (yes the elite has a bigger HDD than the ps3s 299 deal) it has a second controller, monster cables hdmi and the remote...

Sony cant touch the box and they know it.

I own all 3 consoles 360 , ps3, wii and I play the ps3 the most and my girl plays the 360 and wii.

You forgot to mention Xbox Live's superiority. "thumbsup"

it better be, since you have to pay to go online

according to some dev companys they've taken the 360's graphic capability to its limit. and according to them they havent even scratched the surface ps3's cell processor.
*it was either eidos ea or activision. all i remember about the article is david ellis is the one who did the interview

this is one reason i think 360 is better, you dont see ps3 comming out with this do you

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzzxLs31Gh0

are you serious ?!

it was proven that the "netal" trailer and supposed " tech demo " was completly staged and scripted, the jimmy fallon demo was also scripted and had an entire team working back stage tracking and mapping his movement to try to get the "demo" working.

yes ps3 "light wands" looked gay and lame but it was an actual working tech demo

ohh yeah and the playstation eye and ps2's eye toy says hi

You guys need some women...where freebies are nice and quality suckness can be a good thing.
...and you don't have to pay for it.

There are some things in this world that women cannot give you. Yes there are many similarities between the two: Happiness, gut wrenching violence and massive drama.

The differences? You can get rid off one without getting 20 to life,no in-laws, plenty of money left to waste on toys, your console can't kill you with a gun and collect the insurance, games don't you spending time with other games, zero responsibilty. And last but but not least: One has a mute button. :D

You get alot for the price, more than just gaming. $50 a year for a dedicated gamer is nothing...thats just skipping less than 1 game release. The Netflix add-in alone is worth that.

Obviously you might also know this as well. They didn't come out at the same time. The X360 is much older technology and still competing. Maybe its peaked, but the games still have the same graphics level as the PS3.

Why aren't developers writing to the capacity of the PS3 processor? Then it'd help many move to the PS3 causing MS to move to a next level console. Once again easy to say something in an interview. Where's the proof the consumer can see.

most companies are saying we have not touched teh surface on either console, ea was the only one saying otherwise. one of the major problems with the ps3 versus the 360 is that the ps3 is using an older nvidia video chip which can not support antialiasing and hdr at the same time. which, is why they had to use bloom in a lot of the rendering processes, and most exclusive sony titles look great on the ps3 but the titles shared by the 360 and pc look noticeably better, since it would take extra dev time to get the ps3 to look the same..
