Hummer goes bye bye

All points I have wondered too Pete. I know the GMC line was originally created to give oldsmobile and pontiac dealers a truck line, but now that seems a moot point.

Buick is for sure curious, doesn't quite fit anywhere. Cadillac is supposed to compete with Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes, yet Buick also claims to compete against Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes, so in effect, Buick and Cadillac compete against each other. I always found Mercury to fit in a weird spot as well though.

Maybe in yesteryears the multiple car line ups had more differences between them, but now the lines seem awfully blurry.

I actually like the H3 trucks, but thats the only hummer wannabe that I do like the looks of. The H2 and normal H3 look like ass.

Ok off-topic, but check out this semi I stumbled across in your link:shock::twisted:,

http://www.internationaltrucks.com/Trucks/Trucks/Series/LoneStar

That is a badass lookin rig:twisted: can't wait to see them haulin freight, on the interstate.

I saw a bunch of those being piggybacked up Interstate 65 this morning. They're not quite as sleek looking in real life as they are in the images shown, but Inter-trashional has been stepping up their game in the O/O market for awhile now. Not bad looking at all.

I still can't figure out how GM justifies having two truck brands in Chevy and GMC. The Avalance/Escalade EXT are the only model not offered in a GMC, otherwise the Chevy truck line is redundant. GMC should be the GM truck line, Chevy should be the car line, and Cadilac should be the luxury line. I never understood the Buick line either...

Thank you!

Why does Chevy and GMC need a Suburban? Why does GMC have options Chevy doesnt? Doesnt make any sense. I dont quite get Buick either. How is it so different from Oldsmobile? In addition, why did the Pontiac G8 GXP have to get axed? Its the hottest car they put out. The fed made them axe all of Pontiac, so why cant GM sell one car under a different badge. They will be bringing it back sorta, but as the Caprice - yea thats a tough name.

If they ever axe the Vette which almost happened a bit ago, I say they are DOA.

How do you make a Chevy Tahoe perform even worse offroad? Make the body larger add bigger tires with the same anemic steering system add a locker, and blam! Big stuck broken Tahoe.

Great! Unemployment rate is around 22% right now in our area. There are not even enough jobs to go around to all the people who are out of work right now. Even if every position at every business was filled, there would still be thousands left without work.

That really sucks!

Does really suck, but the reallity is that unemployment, when figured correctly is 18-20% nationwide.

Some areas may have jobs, but wont hire.

Some places wont hire because you made to much previously, have too much experience, have an education past what is required for the job, or you will leave when the next good job comes along.

The H3 is the one that really got me. A re-badged trailblazer starting at 45k!

You should check your facts, never heard it compared to a tblaze. What do you think is so similar between a trailblazer and h3? Come on I want to here it. Oh and they didn't start at 45k either.

Again, the H2 and Tahoe aren't on identicle frames. Nor is their suspension system identicle. I would love to see a tahoe make escalator, set up properly im sure it could, but until then:

Osh Kosh, IS making the hummer replacement for the military, and anyone who thinks that the "Hummer" was over sized and impractical needs to check out the behemouth that is replacing it. It's basically the size of a deuce and a 1/2, with only 4 wheels. It dwarfs the Hummer and is twice as heavy. You "won't" see any of them being driven by celebs in Hollywood.
As for the H1 and H2's, I've seen plenty of them being used for real world uses and taking on trails. You CAN off road them, the Starbucks yuppies gave them the bad rap.
Robby Gordon, raced for them and I believe it was him who drove a stock H1 through sledge hammer. (For some reason Scott Goodwin comes to mind maybe.)

Seeing both and being in both in action is a lot different than basing my judgement off of the stereotype of thoughs who can afford them but don't use them for anything other than to say "hey look at me, I'm cool."
IF I could afford one and it's operating costs, I'd take one and use it well.

OK, fine, neither one is a real offroader, but if you were going to build one into a wheeler I would start with a Tahoe long before a H2.

better stick to mall crawlin, groceries, and errands.

I actually like the h3s' very fun to drive. My wife started to buy one loaded it was like 35 thousand. I glad she changed her mind."thumbsup"

Here you go, the H2 uses the Tahoe/Yukon Chassis:

http://www.askmen.com/top_10/cars_60/78_car_list.html

In this article look down to the "shared chassis" section:

http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/content/dec2005/id20051227_785740.htm

The H3 shares the colorado/canyon chassis which is also shared with the trailblazer/envoy etc. As for the 30k base price, there were none on the lots for that price. I know several people that own them and never could they find any priced that low.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but they are different. I am a GM parts salesman, the H2/Tahoe has the same design but different in structure.

Trailblazers chassis is a completely different shape, and different in size. The Colorado/Canyon is "share" the same frame but like the tahoe/h2 different. H3 Has more reinforcing done, 2 more cross members, cross member design is different on each cross member, the frame rails are slightly different, frame mounted bumpers, etc.

They are out there.

You said offer proof, and I did, so where is yours? Sorry, but being a parts salesman doesn't prove anything.

In the one pic I was glad to see the school bus won, and not just because I hate H2's and H3's.

I remember reading something about that a few years ago, IIRC the idiot in the H2 survived with minor injuries and the bus driver was the one who recieved the ticket because she was illegally parked on a roadway. Apparently she had stopped her empty bus to take a cell phone call and the idiot in the H2 managed to miss a giant yellow box because he was adjusting his H2's radio as he drove up behind it:evil:

Believe it or not, there are people out there that flat out refuse to buy one a Chevy Trucks/GMC if GM were to kill off GMC/Chevy Trucks and only have one brand:shock: GMC used to be a completely stand alone truck brand until GM bought them prior to the Great Depression and supposedly it said in the purchase agreement that as long as GM was in business, GMC was not to be killed off.

IIRC it used to be that Chrysler, Cadillac, and Lincoln used to be a competing luxury brands, Desoto, Buick/Oldsmobile, and Mercury were the intermediate Luxury brands, Dodge, Pontiac, and to some extent Ford were the "sporty" brands, then Plymouth, Chevy, and Ford were the el cheapo, get them in the door while young brands while the Imperial and Mark lines were more of an ultra luxury car on par with Bently and Rolls. But at the time, most of the different brands were the same basic design with a bunch of different trim levels which started to go away in 1960 when Detroit released the Corvair, Valiant/Lancer, and Falcon/Comet compact car lines.

Missed this thead earlier this year. Glad I got mine when I did before Hummer went under. Just got it the way I want it, or at least for another month or two, lol. Hummer haters (yea I don't really care for the H2's myself) can say what they want, but it's been a great truck so far and pretty capable off the lot as is.

That looks like the ultimate zombie hunting vehicle.

I actually kind of like it.

Thanks guys, had to get some pics before I get it all scratched up and muddy, lol. They even powdercoated the front skid plate for me, :lmao:, that shouldn't last long on there. Never heen a hummer guy, but said what the heck and couldn't pass up the deals that where going on at the dealerships before they closed out. Alpha package, front and rear lockers, AWD, low gear ratio, V8, etc. etc. Hey it might be a collectable one day unless the tree huggers completely take over, lol. Only had a run on the H3T's for 1 year '09, then a partial short run on the 2010. Never know, won't be worth much when I get finished with it though, lol.
