iPhone VS Driod

Any droid/iphone experts care to chime in on this question? I'm getting ready to be deployed in August and have been looking at ways that I can stay in touch with my family while I'm gone.

The iphone has a skype app and an app called icall that can be used to connect to a wi-fi network and call back home. Although my wife would be tied to the computer at home to avoid using minutes on my phone at all (at least that's my understanding of it).

Does the droid have a similar app?

And for reasons I don’t completely understand, Skype Mobile works only over Verizon’s 3G network, not Wi-Fi–which is the opposite of the situation on the iPhone, where you can only call over Wi-Fi, not the AT&T network.

yes, the droid does have a skype app...
However it only works on 3g. No wifi.

There are several apps in the market that will let you use skype over wifi, so yes...your good

So i got my Incredible, way fast. But the only issue im having is short batttery life, like 10hours today. Hopefully it gets better or i can figure out what to do to make it better.

download juice saver. i got it, helps out. also look for the wifi battery saver, it stops your phone from searching for wifi when in sleep mode. Got mine yesterday, got about 9 hours out of it. Working on the second charge right now. Ill check back now that i have the apps and let you know. If i remember about this thread:roll:

The Lipo battery is just like the RC batteries.
The first peak charge may only be 85%, as you cycle it the peak charges grow. It takes a couple of weeks to get 100%. They also have an extended battery coming out soon.
Another good app is Astro Task killer, shuts down tasks running in the backround.

I've been waiting for the HTC Incred for months..... I picked mine up the morning it came out and it's everything they said it would be.
Fast as hell, sharp and easy to read, Android 2.1 doesn't need to be rooted and screens, widgets and apps are easy to deal with.
8G internal memory with the capability of 32g Micro SD card. As soon as they makes a 64g Micro SD the phone just needs a simple firmware upgrade.
I can't tell the difference between Sat and WiFi speeds this thing is so fast, as long as the reception is good.
The game Teeter is addicting,

On my Moto Droid, I normally can go a full day from 6am to 11 PM on a single charge depending on how much streaming music I listen to and how much internet I browse.

still over half battery... sense this morning, been using it on and off all day. Not streaming music or anything though. Still in love with this phone."thumbsup"

my HTC Eris was the same way, took about a week for the battery to take a normal charge and last me all day.
