What do you want to break

You might be looking at this all wrong. Your going to stress stuff. Prioritizing break points is kindof a good idea. Delrin links, break em. Drive Shafts, Traxxis ones! Break em. Spur? Goner. C's and Knuckles. I want to try and protect those. Axles. I usually try to protect those. Motor, ESC? Lets keep a close watch on them. I can replace delrin easily myself at a comp and my shafts can be done in 5 minutes with one allen. So to be honest. Lately have had a pretty bad go of it on drive shafts.

I don't build fuses. Build it bullet proof as possible within reason. My only part that I would call a possible "fuse" would be my spur gear. I don't like steel spurs or I would replace it. I will stall a motor before I break a part.

just get some super 300's, alum knuckles, alum c's, mip drivelines, and metal tranny gears and you should be pretty close to bomb proof

Don't get me wrong. I am not looking to put in parts that I know will break. I am simply saying that there are parts I am ok having as a "fuse" and others I DO NOT want to fail. My drive shafts for example. The traxxis ones are stronger than stock but they are not so strong as the MIP's. It is an upgraded part that will be prone to break again but I keep a set or two in my tackle box if I need to go fish. I have no intention of doing the same with my c's and knuckles or axles for that matter.

I would upgrade the drive shafts to Traxxas Stampede shafts, but I mod them using 2 male shafts + 1 female shaft for each drive shaft. Figure out your minimum shaft length, and cut 1 male shaft so that there's about 1/8" gap between the ends of both male shafts. Then cut the tube off of a female shaft and CA it onto the cut male shaft.

With the style shaft, you'll no longer twist shafts, and you can easily build custom length shafts.

2nd thing that I would do on an Axial is build my own (or buy new) links that use the 4mm Traxxas Revo rod ends.

"thumbsup" My drivetrains break point is the spur as well. 300's, HD front gears, under drive HD rear gears, MIP centers, RR tranny gears, plastic spur.

Before I got aluminum knuckles they were my most broken part.
