I was a huge stereo nerd, I mean Audiophile, not too long ago. I have a VPI record player that cost about three times the amount of the expensive comp trucks, used decent ancillary equipment and all that including home built 2A3 tubed monoblocks, a SACD player, and what have you. Cables costing more than I would admit. I've also owned Grado SR60 headphones since 1994 and used them for so many hours I couldn't even begin to imagine. The Grado SR60s are world renowned for being great sounding, but from more of the bang for the buck approach. I've enjoyed them immensely, no doubt. If you have $75 to spend on music, you will enjoy them no question, no matter what.

Since computer Hi-Fi is finally a reality and headphones are more conducive to my environment right now, I'm searching for the next level, actually, more like a purchase that I'd be happy with for the next who knows how many years. Price is irrelevant, but the +$1000k headphones might be a tad overkill. But I've looked at Grado's RS line, 325i and of course Sennheiser 650s and even AKG 701 or 702s.

You guys do any headphone listening?

You mean the head phones that came with my ipod aren't good?

Who is this guy?!?!?

I like my pioneer DJ headphones. Probably more bass than you would want in them, but they block sound very well and reproduce the frequencies well (especially bass). The hdj 1000 and 2000 seem to get good ratings.

i picked up some skullcandy TI's for 50% off when i worked for an online retail store.

im sure thats not the same level of quality that you are speaking of but they sure drowned out the noise from the baby who screamed on my 5 hour flight a few months ago"thumbsup"

I agree i like my skullcandy's.

If you have the money you should get some Bose headphones, they sound amazing."thumbsup"

This is the best route for you Eeepee...

Two more of those and I'd have surround sound boomboxes.

Maybe use duct tape to attach the third one in front of me?

Or just make a triangle of boombox terror. Rest it on my shoulders?

Man I just got these little Sony ear buds that kick butt they even come with this case that you put the buds in then close the case then you run your finger around the face and it winds up the cord setty neat huh.

Just wondering if you could recomend a nice surround sound for about a grand or two?

I can't because I have zero interest or involvement (weird word to spell) in surround sound.

And there will be a huge difference between a grand or two, so pick one, even if it's $1500.

I can tell you for certain you won't find it at a big name electronics store, IF you catch my drift. Just like you could go and buy a Redcat RTR crawler and think it's sweet, then find RCCrawler and learn some shit, you can do the same for stereos. Every person has a flavor they prefer, be it chocolate or beer, you should piece together components that compliment each other and sound AWESOME to your ears.

You feel me!? Don't go out and buy some crappy HT system! Please!

i use a turtle beach headset that sounds great. they have recently taken a huge chunk of market share though, and now are not that well made for the newer ones. though you could look at a set of tritons or astro headsets also. especially since its for a computer. these will give you the ability to use skype or another computer probgram also without having to change headsets.
