Headphone listeners

Other than that maybe trying the Sennheiser HD 800's is well worth the money for High Def sound but or $1100.00 it seems too much or me to enjoy music. Have you looked at the AKG's? I would guess maybe you might enjoy the price and quality in the K701's or the MKII's

I wish they were only $1100, I'd have more money to spend on records. I think of it from the opposite way. I will have a nearly perfect device for being able to enjoy the music more, because I will be able to hear more of it. The fine details the less expensive headphones can't do, the details that are needed to convey emotion, and a sense of rhythm and pace and timing. The Hi-Fi part, the super details. Oh sure, you can get great clarity for less, I know. You can get parts of the great stuff, but I want it all.

Yeah AKG's 701 and 702 were thoroughly looked into. Depending where you read, they're either fantastic (for the price) or not. I don't want that. Like settling on a Porsche Boxster when I knew I should have went for the GT3 RS, or something like that.

I thought that was obvious. Last post with an ounce of truth was #49.

It was obvious. Pics or you're a liar always puts a stop to the silly.

Come on Friday and get here already!

Talk about longest work day ever!

as you were out of uniform.

Reppin' the team!

Technics direct-drive, circa 1980. The cartridge is slightly newer...

14 bills for headphones and you still drink Nappy Ice?

Their 1200 made a resurgence (other than DJs) not long ago, I guess they actually sound pretty good. And they're not terribly expensive. What kind of cartridge you got? Pretty much the voice of the system.

Yeah, think it through a little more. Cheap beer, and I have expensive toys. If I drank expensive beer all the time, I'd have cheap toys.

Give ya $5 dollars for them......:flipoff:

Would love to hear what a $1400 dollar set of headphones sounds like"thumbsup"

The USB one had a headphone out.

I've had these things on my head for three hours straight and they're starting to loosen up a little bit and relax. What I'm really impressed with is the ability to seemingly completely, differentiate each and every single note from any instrument at all times totally clearly. The lead on each note is very hear-able.

What was that kurt? I've edited my own post like 4 times in the last minute.

Here's one for ya.

Not sure, but they're large. Pretty much the diameter of the circle, like around 2 inches.

Biggest transducers ever used in headphones up to today - new innovative dynamic transducer design

Frequency response: 6 – 51,000 Hz (- 10 dB), 14 - 44,100 Hz (- 3 dB)

I've never heard bass go this low outside of a car with a 15 inch sub. But this bass is clearly defined.

Those Sennheiser HD800 are very impressive! We had a GT awhile back with a few Sound and Vision fourm members, and one of the guys brought those Sennheiser HD800. I am a HT nut and those headphones impressed me. I say get them you won't be disappointed!

Dammit, now I have another forum to troll. Lots of good stuff there

I'm glued to www.Head-Fi.org - Audiophile computer headphone based. But I'm really more wanting to get my turntable back into the picture, cause it's well... records, and records rule.

I say get them you won't be disappointed!

Already got em! Got em Friday, and I don't think they've been off my head for more than 4 hours. I'm far from disappointed.

Damn, how big are the drivers

Looked around more and got tthis:

After 60 years of operation however, Germany's Sennheiser decided that for their latest and greatest assault at the crown, size did matter (and no, this model is not made in an American plant but the Wedemark headquarters). Consequently, the Neodymium-powered two-layer ring radiator inside the HD800—firing at your ear in a strategic angle to simulate free-air sound arrivals—is claimed to sport the largest diameter* ever seen for such applications: 56mm or 2.205" (with a 40mm voice coil). That's twice your average tweeter. The best of those can cost speaker makers well above $200/ea** for the raw part. Generally you don't encounter them until you shell out about 100 times that for the full speaker.

Woot.
