Anybody ever use , "My clean pc" or Speed up my pc , with any succes?
My laptop and desktop are being super slow ,every three days I have to delete everthing in internet options to get this page to load, or get my email to show . This is getting old . I have vista and cant afford/dont want to get win7 . Any suggestions would be nice .
 
Why pay money for the services that you can perform for free using the software that is already on your computer (under the "system tools" folder)??
 
Cause Im computarded. And I searched through the processes deletion deal on the net and it took hours . I would gladly paypal someone for a good cleanup walkthrough. I tried defrag and updates , dont know anything about registery cleaning .
 
AVG 2011, AVG 2011 PC Tuneup, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D and several other softwares are available to use for free.

I have all of the above along with several others on PC and don't pay a dime for them. I would also go through and make sure you are up to date on all software updates.
 
I love malwarebytes and Spybot

I also do a regular disk defrag and disk cleanup (both under system tools)

cleaning up the desktop (removing unused icons) can help a little in startup speed as well.

My biggest guess would be that there are some lurking viruses, and anti-virus or malware programs would help the most (like the first two I mentioned, and the others that dkf recommended).

those sites that you were asking about are a horrible idea. they load all kinds of crap onto your machine-- spyware, malware, viruses.
 
Don't waste your time on AVG, they've become a terrible free option...grown heavy in memory resources and missing too many viruses.

#1. Download, install, and update Malwarebytes. Run full scan.
#2. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials (free av and computer optimizer). This is better than nearly anything you can pay for yet free because MS finally realized they need to get away from the idea of being the "virus system". Also helps control updates and system optimization to increase performance.

If those don't fix the issue, try then booting to Windows Safe Mode (Press the F8 key just before the Windows Vista screen shows up and select Safe Mode). This will remove running processes that might be smart enough to block Malwarebytes and MSSE from finding everything or being able to fix it.

Another good option to keep up on system performance is to run Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner (does everything those services you mentioned but for free...)
 
It actually sounds like you might have an issue with either you virtual memory or you hard drive is too full and isn't able to dump what it needs to. As for stuff to clean the PC with definately use Malwarebytes it is the best of any paid/non paid. Also to help you with getting other unwanted crap off of it go to file hippo and download CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) it will do a lot of crap. And if you still need help let me know and I can help you out with it.

How long has the MS Security Essentials been out?

I noticed when I recently upgraded to AVG 2011 the file was way larger than it used to be.

I think its been consumer available in current working platform since about Jan 2010. I was on the beta test team back in June of 09. There is a new beta currently testing with provides even more helpful tools. Microsoft has finally learned they need to get their OWN name and products fixed to keep up to the Mac and Linux nearly virus/problem free in comparison.

Was originally the Live OneCar Anti-Virus system which was not free...but has become free and in this new smaller and better form because of the competition and their move to better the Windows experience. Works on XP, Vista, and of course 7.

Yeah AVG was great...but they are growing like others to be more "encompassing" but at the same time its getting problematic. It's no Norton hog yet...but in 2-3 more major upgrades it will be out of control.
 
AVG is trash, It slowed my wifes laptop down to a CRAWL. It regularly took an hour to boot up to get on the net. Deleted AVG and boom, Computer was fast again. Loaded Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner, and everything is fast and secure!
 
just when I was about to report good luck with these methods , it took me 3 tries to log on to RCC with no success . I had to erase everything in my internet options again. I ran a full everything on cc and malware
 
Does Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner take the place of Mcafee Security? I'm 99% sure thats what is slowing down my pc but dont want to remove it and not be secured.

SE is fairly new, thats why I didn't know about it. Installed it on 2 PCs last night, AVG is history. Appreciate the info. I'm glad MS at least appears to be putting forth and effort.
