I'm on the search for a good motor that is capable of handling 5S power. My current setup is a 5S 2200 mAh 30C LiPo, CC Mamba Max Pro, Traxxas Titan 12T, 16T/87T gearing (or whatever is the best match for the motor) and Axial tranny. I'd like to go sensored brushless, but will go brushed or burshless if there aren't any good sensored brushless options. My only real requirement is that the new motor be able to mount to an Axial compatible motor plate, so 540 and 550 size motors are definite wins. I'm not sure if I can easily mount a larger motor or not. Thanks, guys. "thumbsup"

Novak Ballistic or HV long cans.

You'll need to swap out gear pitch to 32p.
Good suggestion. I was looking at that earlier before starting this thread, but couldn't find the voltage maximum. Novak's website implies the intended use is 4S LiPo, but they don't list a max voltage. I suppose a call is in order because that's the best option so far. Thanks for that recommendation, Doug.

BTW, those rob bushings I bought from your rock! I've definitely got my money's worth out of them.

That was going to be my suggestion. On 5S it will be just on the safe side of ridiculous.
I'd like to go with a 14T Puller, and that was my first choice weeks ago. However, after talking with John and learning that they're no longer in production, that's going to be a challenge... unless... you guys know of an alternate source that has HH 14T Pullers in stock. Speak up good citizens of RCC and divulge thy source for new HH 14T Pullers. "thumbsup"

I'd go brushless on anything over 4s, but that's mainly because my maintenance on my brushed motors is zero. As far as I know there is no where else to get pullers. You used to be able to get them from promax, the original makers, but they have taken the page down now. So i'd say your only hope would be a NIP in the for sale section.

If you can find a can and endbell I have brushes and armatures here for the 14t puller.

Otherwise I would say a 21.5t 540 sensored, or equivelent longer can motor.

Cool, thanks John. I might just have to do that.

I talked to Novak today and apparently their definition of high voltage and my definition are different. The HV 550 is rated up to 4S. The guy at Novak I spoke to said that if I want to run 5S and brushless, I need to go to a Castle motor. :ror:
