4PK Setups, Tips, Tricks and Help

Having recently purchased a 4PKS, I knew from this excellent thread of the programming difference for the programmable mixes and how the screen popup for Program Mix 2 blocked the mixing amount when in servo view. After setting up the radio per Harley’s video and using the Trim / Dial view as the workaround for the 4PKS, I really wanted to have both the servo view and mix amount viewable until getting comfortable with the radio operation to avoid getting “lost” in a mix while on course, expecially since I’m new to the dual esc world.

After experimenting with different settings I believe I have found an option for the 4PKS in order to have the servo view and the mix amount viewed concurrently without having to send the radio to Futaba for reprogramming.

The way in which the popup on the right side of the screen for Program Mix 1 and Program Mix 2 appears to work differently. The popup on the screen for Program Mix 1 On / Off would after popping up for roughly 3 seconds then disappear and the amount of mixing would be viewable as everyone had been accustomed to with the 4PK. Program Mix 2 for some reason when active has the popup which covers the mix amount and stays visible the entire time the mix is on.

Thus by changing Program Mix 1 to mix the throttle and channel 3 in place of Program Mix 2 the radio when using servo view provides a display like that of the 4PK.

Since I have not yet purchased an additional ESC and the tests above were based upon using the Servo view, can someone verify the above option works in actual operation?

The screenshot below shows the Program Mix 1 On / Off popup which disappears after roughly 3 seconds.

The screenshot below shows the radio with Program Mix 1 active, popup gone and the mixing percentage for the rear motor esc viewable on the right side of the screen, which is adjustable via the user selected DT.

Harley, Would you please break this down for us dummies? :)

I'd like to try this today but have a beer cloud in my brain from last night8)

Looks like it works to me. I have not yet swapped my radio out to a 4PKS to try this however and even when I do I believe mine will already be reprogrammed. Good find "thumbsup"

No problem "thumbsup" And thank you again!

The mix display issue has been driving me crazy but I am 100% addicted to XR10 w/ 4PKS. Didn't know if I could handle losing my controller for a week or so to get the update :ror:

Rig Rocker: Thank you for the confirmation. "thumbsup"

i followed the video, setup my radio, then went to power my crawler up and have no control of either esc. do i set them individually? all wiring is correct.

Randy shoot me an email quick if you can. I'll give you a call or vise versa if you have the rig in front of you. Should be something simple.
sorry i didnt get back to you earlier, just got home. i found out that i managedd to cut the signal wires on accident when i was cutting some zip ties off  thanks for the help though Harley"thumbsup"

Harley when I purchased my 4pk used it didn't come with the hook for a neck strap...do you know how I can get one?

Can someone please tell me if I will get my rear wheels to "lock" if I go to dual fxr's and set the drag brake high on the rear esc?
My current setup is just a single fxr and punk dig and I am relying on my magnets to lock the rear wheels and they dont hold as well as I would like them too. It is my understanding that if I go to dual esc's and set it up per Harley's guide the rear esc will stay ON and therefore use the actual drag brake feature of the esc when I do a dig. Thanks for any help with this. "thumbsup"
