X post from in electronics that went unanswered....figured a few here in the creeper forum could give me an idea...

Guys,

I have a Venom VR3T 3 channel radio in my creeper and want to know if I could modify the 3rd channel to use a 3 position switch for the dig. I will upgrade my radio, but I'm not ready to do so yet....

Radio I have: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXWJS7**&P=7

Brent the link doesnt work,,,,for me anyway

this remote does not have three position switch its a 3rd channel mixing. great remote without dig I had one when i bought the ckrc venom kit. the remote glitched and went fubar so I use the futuba mpx 2.4 gz works great I use a two position switch to go from 4x4 to dig locked then I have a three position switch that goes 4x4 dig freewheel dig locked.the futuba goes for about $200 but so worth it"thumbsup"

Hmmm.. weird, didnt work for me either. Anyway, its the $50 venom 3 channel radio. 27 mhz fm. For the 3rd channel it has a 2 position switch which im assuming was originally for the wannabe diff locks. i wasnt sure if that switch could be removed and a 3 position switch wired for a dig would work. If not, i could always just sell it...its practically brand new still. I ended up going with a bta steering setup and now looking at adding a dig. I followed a berg through some tough spots until i hit some verticles.:...now i need that dig lol. Surprisingly the creeper is very stable for a shafty and i have the tt almost gone.

The radio works great for me, just want that 3 position switch to utilize all 3 positions on the dig. Keep the antenna up and theres no glitching. It has been really good for 50 bucks, but i might end up getting a different radio and either selling it or keep it for my girlfriends truck when we decide to build her one. For a basic programmable radio, its great.

I was curious if one could be wired to work...and for the mixing, ill be honest that im not sure what that means. Ive always used basic 2ch radios....lol for almost 15 years ive never gotten anuthing close to say a dx3 or the futaba you mentioned. Would the mixing benefit me in any way? Ill have to educate myself some more on the advanced functions. I do know the basics, end points etc.

On the board where the switch is soldered to, there are 3 spots there, all with solder, but only 2 are actually soldered to the switch (2 position). I'm going to play around with it tonight or tomorrow night working on soldering a 3 position switch up and see if it works like I think it will. I'll let everyone know if it works or not. Right now the Venom is selling them for 30 bucks. So if it works out right, it could be a great radio with a 3 position 3rd channel for really cheap. I haven't had any issues with the radio even though it's a cheapie system; works perfectly for me.

After further inspection and ohm testing...the third spot on the board isn't connected to anything. Wont work.

i have a problem where when i turn and get in a tight position then my steering goes out and me motor goes out and then my steering servo twitches so idk if it it the esc or is it the reciever so if you can help me plz thanks

sound like your esc is shutting down, thermal shut down i believe. kind of common with crawlers with no bec and running 2 servos.... i would recomend getting a bec and that should take care of your problem...
