I got the AX10 and love it, but I got a deal on a creeper to build and expect to have just as much fun with it. Only waiting on my new radio and it will be ready.

Why did you get a venom over the AX10

beecause its similar to an axial but improved i supose!) LOTS of articulation, LOTS of Steering, Cool DIG unit available, and the price is awsome, my first crawler but the ability os quite impressive, only some weight on the wheels and tires not so good , good for scale crawling, but HB whites and the creeper can Hang with the best!)

Got my radio and reciever, servo, crappy but workable esc, new motor, some chisels on the way, so it is about time to start the build.
bought the brother in law a venom for christmas, only cause it was cheaper, had I gotten the chance to put the rest of the money forth into the AX10 I'd have gotten him a RTC, and saved the headaches of having to fabricate each part he needs to bring it up on par with the AX10. as a whole I like the venom, but, it's certainly no AX10....

Becasue I turned my AX10 into a Scaler :ror: and I wanted another crawler and since the price was so tempting I bought the Creeper.
For the price you can't beat the creeper and with the right tires and mods it will crawl just as good as the Ax10.
The main problem with the creeper is the stock CVD's the pins tend to come out and ruin the axles, But there is an easy fix and solution to this problem. You can buy or make your own brass covers that hold the pins in and they only cost $7.00 for a set of 4.
The other Problem with the Creeper is the lockers in the axles (mine are still working justfine) but you can buy FLM lockers for $20.00 and solve that problem as well.
Other than these two minor problems its a great crawler. There are lots of after market parts for the creeper.
The AX10 is a great crawler as well but has minor problems too.
The AX10 comes stock with a 3 link and the creeper comes with a 4 link
The Ax10 does not come with CVD's
On the plus side the AX10 has a better and smaller as well as lower sitting transmission, Better lockers for the axles, and tons of parts for upgrades and what not.
Am I happy with my Creeper yes! was I happy with my AX10 yes! would I pick one over the other if I had to yes and it would be the Creeper because it is more affordable and crawls just as well as the AX10.
The AX10 costs at least $120.00 more than the Creeper
if it were me......I'd have gone the route of using the creeper axles as the scaler axles.....they don't look as good but, with the fact that you can actuate the lockers (and for non-comp crawling use, they'll hold up awesomely) they'd make awesome scaler axles....I'm seriously considering buying a creeper just so I can rape the axles out of it and throw the rest of it to the brother for spare parts.....

because i can run circles around a stock ax10 with a stock creeper (seriously the steering throw is way better) the shocks are better the rims are better it comes with cvds the body looks better(opinon) selectable lockers and $100 cheaper=no brainer

Put mine together tonight. The rims freaking blow. Tried to put on some proline chisels since the stockers are junk and still fighting two of them. The body went straight in the trash.
I do like it, but so far my axial is coming out on top. getting the motor on is way more difficult on the creeper. Flex is good and shocks are great. A selectable locker is pointless. Fully locked is the only way to be for me.
agreed, I'm not sure how the above person thought their wheels were great but, I'd call em total crap, if you don't spend the extra to buy the venom weight set you can't put strip weights on without cutting their little lugs off, and the beadlock rings strip out WAY too easy.....the shocks were total crap on the brother's as well.....
At the time I bought mine the thing that appealed to me was that the creeper has a much better stock suspension set-up and awesome aluminum links all around. When I got my Creeper my buddy always out crawled me with his AX10. His is stock but has White Rovers and lead weights all around and I had crappy stock tires and no weights. The story has changed with me getting Rovers and adding 4oz to the front wheels. I crawl stuff that he can't touch now, just by evening up the playing field with good tires and wheel weights. So in a nutshell mod for mod the creeper out crawls the Axial, it is way beefier all around, and costs less. Win Win situation. I have nothing against Axials at all, they're great machines, I just prefer the Venom all around. "thumbsup"

I know nobody has used this thread in a while. But I took the time to read through it and have found the info I was searching this thread for - what are some of the up front hop ups/improvements to make to the creeper to make it competitive. Wow, there aren't many that are needed in reading this thread. I figured for the price I'd be spending lots more cash later - doesn't appear to be the case for most on this thread.

i started out with a ax10 2years ago then dropped 2.2 and went 1.9 n now im back with 2.2 and have a creeper and imo the stock creeper out performs a stock ax10
"thumbsup"i got my creeper because i had an ax10 and it died and did not do the best and the axles are so fat
the creeper i got off ebay had the dig and for 175 could not let this opne go and it stock is more capable out of the box and axial knukles will fit the creeper i checked with some stock scx10 ones but the price mostly you can get a kit and good electronics for the price of an ax10 roller and i run creeper tires on my scaler and they work like shit i love them on my scaler so the tires are ok but i run leopards on mine"thumbsup":mrgreen:

Price and design did it for me. I read all I could before ordering this kit. I ordered my red creeper kit just before the holidays for $109 shipped. I really like the transmission, inline drive shafts, and all the anodized bits that come with the kit. It just seems that with the creeper you can keep it mild in stock trim, or take it wild following setups on this board for very little $$$.
