Bought some batteries to try out from a vendor on here. I paid the additional for insurance and everything on the shipment. Didn't see an option for signature required. Since it was coming to work I would have been happy to pay for it.

Shipment went out in a timely manner from vendor. USPS says it was delivered. It was not. I had it delivered to work (only 4 of us and it did not actually make it in the door) since we receive and ship USPS daily on shipments as well as mail.

Contacted vendor, they said their liability ends when USPS says "delivered" and basically I am SOL. He said I would have to take it up with the mail carrier. I have done everything in my power to work with our mail carrier(our regular girl was not there the day it says it delivered and she has discussed it with the sub as well as attempted to find it on the route).

Sent vendor another note hoping they might offer to help in some way since I got dicked out the batteries.......no reply.

It sucks that the scumbags have made it so difficult to make a vendor believe that a shipment did not actually arrive and that I am not just trying to screw them out of additional product.

I know that it is not directly the vendor's fault. However, this particular vendor has lost any chance of me ever buying another thing from them just because they were not even willing to work with me to get me replacements for the batteries I got screwed out of by USPS. I am not even saying they need to be free, just help me in some way since I got screwed.

When we have an issue at work with a USPS shipment we make sure the customer is taken care of ........

Sucks.

Yep, that does suck. In my experiences, I've been told by USPS that the sendor needs to be the one to file the complaint. Since this was insured, then you should be getting the reimbursement from the USPS.

Doubt they'll get anything back if it says it was delivered. Was there signature confirmation as well? If so, look that up and see who signed for it. Maybe business next door?

I am planning to try filing for a claim but since it shows as delivered the girl I talked to at USPS said there is a slim chance they will actually give me any $$ back.

No signature confirmation available from vendor on shipment that I saw......it was not signed for and just shows as delivered.

That is what our mail carrier has been doing for me. She took the sheet I printed off with the delivery info and was checking her route to see if anyone had seen it.

Our company does hundreds of shipments a week. Stuff gets misdelivered. It happens. This is up to the vendor resolve. If the vendor didn't put sigcon or insurance on it, they need to send another one out to you. If not you can file a dispute with your cc company.

Exactly my point........I sent another PM to the vendor with a link to this post. Maybe he will decide to do the right thing since I have kept his name out of it so far.....

He says that the insurance does not cover it if it says "delivered". He did not put sig conf on it.....

So far he has just said I am SOL........

I had a similar headache recently with the USPS. Bought a bunch of stuff from the classifieds on here. The guy I bought from was really quick and even paid for 3 day shipping so I'd get it that week. I track it all the way across the country to Davis. Then, without any warning, or reason, the package was never delivered, and was forwarded to an unknown location. The seller had my address right, and did not put a forward notice on it. They kept trying to tell me it was delivered to another address, yet couldn't tell me what this address was.

The kicker was, no one at the USPS could explain why it was forwarded. I continually call back, and they take my info, and say someone will call me yada yada yada, no one ever does. Then we have a 3 day weekend, the driver who lost my package was off for like a week, blah. Finally after GOING IN to the local USPS, and getting pissed off with the supervisor, they finally tell me they think it got sent back to Sacramento. The driver can't explain why he forwarded it. Several more days later, they finally call and tell me it was found in Sacramento and it will be delivered that day.

I got the package, there was no forward notice on it. It took two weeks of nearly daily calls, 1 in person visit, and 3 or 4 different supervisors before they actually tracked it down. Had I not been persistant, I bet it would still be sitting at the Sacramento USPS without my knowledge. The entire time I felt like the USPS made little to no effort to figure out where my shit was.

Like the OP said, it made me feel like the guy I was dealing with thought I was trying to scam him. Absolutely none of what happened could be explained by any USPS employees either.

Only dealing with UPS from now on, so far they are the only ones that haven't royally screwed something up for me.

Look at it from the vendors standpoint. It says delivered. Why should he eat it when all his info points to you not being truthfull. But go ahead and name names. That way they can come in here and say your trying to steal from them. This is just a bad situation for all involved. But I would not blame the vendor. USPS is at fault, but who eats it is another story. Good luck, and hopefully they turn up.

I would of thought it's the vendor's problem not your's??? This crap is why i always get a delivery confirmation when i ship something to a person. It cost very little and it has saved my ass acouple of time's. Maybe im to nice of a guy but when i ship something out i thought if it get's lost i would half to replace it, So i also always got ins. to. Name the vendor:twisted:. I no there are probley over 50 people on here that would back your good name.

Same here. Unless its a sub-$5 part I'm shipping, I always get a dc. If its more than $50, it gets insurance too. CYA people, CYA.

I understand his point of view to a point. I have not asked for anything for free yet.......I just am asking him to help me figure out what to do. So far he has been less than helpful.

I appreciate it Greg, I will name names once he logs on and has the chance to respond......and doesn't

Well, after waiting and waiting for a response, Chris at cheapbatterypacks.com just told me to piss off and that he will do absolutely nothing to help me out at all.

I know that it is not his fault the packs were not delivered as the USPS states but to take this stand and tell me I am completely SOL and that he will do absolutely nothing is pathetic customer service.

Sucks that companies have to be like this. I will never deal with them again.

That suck's

Last year i had a order get lost from tower hobbies and after a couple of weeks thay just sent another order to me. Thay didnt say tough shit. I ship out a DIY steering kit maybe a year and a half ago and it got lost. I sucked it up and sent a second one to Australia .

I was going to order acouple of packs threw this vendor but after this, I DONT THINK SO.

You have to see it from the vendors point of view. The package was shown as delivered so I mean I would be a little skeptical as well. Not saying that the original poster is a liar but there is alot of people out there who will pull this stuff to try to get free stuff. The vendor is just protecting himself and kinda has to take the word of the post office ya know? I can see both sides of this though. Its just a case of bad luck imo.

Any vendor here can make a choice to pursue this incident and file a claim with USPS (they require that the shipper file the claim) or see threads like this pop up. The ball is in their court...

What if he calls the post office and they just tell him what the slip tells him, that it was delivered? Im not saying he's right by not doing anything or that he is fully to blame, Im just saying that its easier to take the word of something like a tracking number than a person ya know? Hopefully ya guys can figure it out and get it resolved.

Sorry to hear about this, Andy.

That is poor customer service. Regardless of what USPS shows...especially when the customer isn't looking for a freebie.

I recently had an order from Dark Soul for a set of wheels disappear. I'd wanted to order another set, but wanted to wait until the others arrived. After enough time had passed to be certain they weren't going to show, they sent me another package...with 2 sets of wheels in it. I contacted them to pay for the 2nd set or they'd have probably just let it go as 2 sets for one. I guess it's just good customer service for you vs crap like this.

Kinda like if you go on Pirate and do a search on East Coast Gear Supply. I've seen nothing but glowing reviews of their service, and I have several friends I've recommended them to, who all now have ECGS stickers on their shop fridges. Good customer service pays off in the long run. "thumbsup"

Thats exactly what they do. We have had this happen in the past, and all we get is the run around from the post office.

Here is a copy and paste of my reply to CRSMacgyver:

Sorry man, I haven't been on much lately.

Unfortunately there isn't anything I can do. I wish there was. But it shows delivered. Which means most likely, it was stolen. That is a home owners insurance issue. Below is our shipping insurance policies, copied and pasted from our site.

I understand that you don't want freebies, and even believe that you didn't get it. But I cant send you new packs on us. If I call the post office, they will tell me to contact your's and they will give me the same answer you got from your carrier. So you have done anything that I can do.

Having a sig confirm on insured orders has been something we have discussed in the past, but most of our customers aren't home when they get mail, and they then will bitch because they have to wait another day.

I do feel bad this has happened man. But the only thing I could have done, is contacted your local post office, which you already have done. And even then, I would have gotten no where. We have done that in the past, and they always say that they will look for it, and never call us back.

Im not really sure what it is you want us to do here? And it would suck to see you not buy from us anymore over something that wasn't anything to do with us. USPS either failed to do their job, or someone stole it. Our insurance is something you pay us to not have to go through the post office to have something replaced. We don't use their insurance, because it takes forever on claims. With ours, if it is broken in the mail, or shows not delivered, then we take care of it, and don't bother with the post office.

Insurance: you are given the option if you want to insure your order or not. Insurance will cover you in the event your order is lost or damaged during shipment. The cost of this insurance is 5% of your total order. You can choose not to get insurance. If you choose NOT TO get insurance CheapBatteryPacks.com is not liable for lost or damaged goods. Insurance is calculated using your order total including shipping multiplied by 5%. So $95.00 + $5.00shipping = $100.00 order x 5% = $5 insurance charge.

We offer some of the lowest pricing around. We did not want to raise our prices to make up for lost/damaged goods. It is up to you if you want to be covered or not.

On International order we may require you to use UPS for large dollar orders. It is more difficult to insure international orders. If you have questions email me.

Insurance will not pay out if your item shows "DELIVERED" from its assigned tracking #. If an item is stolen from your door step or mailbox it is not COVERED by our insurance. Our insurance only covers items "NOT" delivered to your destination or if items were damaged in transit. If your item does show delivered but you did not receive it please contact your local Post office or UPS office. Give them the tracking # and explain the circumstances. Most of the time they will have it at the post office because they were unable to deliver it to you. Also, sometimes items will show delivered but in fact were returned to sender for some other reason. In those cases it usually takes about 7 days for us to get those back. Once back we will contact you.

Im not sure what else there is to do here. I am not even sure what he is asking for at this point. Anything that I could have done to help the customer, he did already. For me to contact his post office, and ask the same questions he did, would serve no purpose, because I will get any answers he did. As I said above, our insurance is through us. Not the post office. We do this, so if something needs to be replaced, that falls under the guidelines, we just do it on the spot, without having to mess around with a claim from the post office.

You need to look at it from our shoes.

A customer places a 30 dollar order, that after my labor to make the packs is involved, we pretty much make nothing on. There is a problem in delivery, and it was most likely stolen, or misplaced. Something that is out of our hands. Our policies state clearly, that if it shows delivered, then thats where we are off the hook. At the end of check out, there is a check box AND a place to initial to AGREE to our policies. The customer agrees, and is pissed when we STICK to them.

If I were to not stick to the policies, then that would be unfair to anyone else who has had to play by the rules, and has lost more than 30 bucks. So what makes this customer any more important than the rest, that HE gets to be the exception? It's no different than complaining about getting a speeding ticket when you were doing 70 in a 55. Mike has always told the customers, that if you don't like his policies, dont order from us. And it may make me look like a dick, but I agree. I didn't write the policies, I just have to uphold them. And I would hate to lose my job over 30 bucks in packs...

This problem almost never happens. But when it does, or when someone DOESNT get the insurance, and it is broken in transit, they are the first to complain that we wont cover it.

Now you know why companies have policies. There needs to be a point in any form of warranties or insurance where the company is off the hook. They cant infinitely cover the problems at the customers discretion.

My reply may piss some of you off, and I am sorry if it does. This is not a matter of me dis believing the customer. I feel bad that he got screwed (BY WHOM EVER STOLE IT, NOT US). And surely would feel just as cheated if it were me. But the skinny of it is, that there are policies there for a reason. The customer agreed to them. Thats why you always want to read what you're signing. Otherwise, you're putting your pecker into an unknown hole. Could be glorious, could give you the clap....

In the end, it would suck to lose a customer or 2 over something like this. Especially when in THIS case, its for packs that are really something you cant get anywhere else, and are(What I personally would say) are the best you can get at the moment. In the 9 years we have been doing this, this is only the 2nd thread I have personally seen, where a customer was this upset with our customer service skills. And it may have actually been for a similar reason. Oh well, I will let you decide whats fair
