Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

Quick question. After my Class 2 scaler has been sitting for a few days, I turn on the transmitter, plug in the battery and everything turns on, but it doesn't arm. I have found that I have to turn off the transmitter and turn it back on while the battery is plugged in to get it to arm. Any thoughts as to why it does this? Happens about 90% of the time. If I shut things down and plug everything back in sometime that day (5 minutes to 12 hours) it's fine....it's just when it's been sitting for a couple of days. BTW, still lovin' the 4pl! Thanks, Tim.

I have the same problem with mine, but only with the extra rx I bought not the one that comes stock with the 4pl. I apologize for not having the part number off hand but i think its the Rx 2004? but i dont think that is right

Same issue with mine......not the stocker, just the extra, need to check model # also.

What it sounds like is that you are running one RX that is FHSS and one that is S-FHSS. When you change the RX type the Radio has to boot up in that mode, so that is why you just have to cycle the power on the radio.

Ah ha! That's it, the 4pl comes with an R2104GF S-FHSS and RPP was out of them when I went order a couple extra RX's. The ones I ordered were R2004GF which are FHSS.....

That's why your the man Harley! Thanks!

Hello
I have my 4PL DIG rebuilt the switch. I like it
if the switch itself back cracks when I let go of him.
I can operate much faster the DIG.
For the reconstruction I had to take the SW2.Thias is a 3-step switch.
All other switches on the 4PL are not situated for the conversion.
SW2 is now out and operate it, I connected a switch tastend/0/tastend.
I operated it with my thumb."thumbsup"

greetings tom

How long do you have to hold the button in to link the radio and receiver? I am trying to link a 4pl to a R2004GF receiver. It just continues to blink red even after holding the button down for 45 sec or so. I tried starting with the power on the controller first then turn on the rec and vice versa. Any ideas what I am missing?

Never mind, figured it out, there is an option on the menu you have to change because its a different receiver than the one that comes with it.

Make sure it's in the correct mode. Cycle the remote power. Hold the remote within an inch of the RX.

Good work Tom. A local friend of mine and I have discussed modifying the slide switch to do the same thing. "thumbsup"

I'm a little confused (normal). The instruction video puts the dig onto DT2, not SW2, right? And I guess like Tom, I find that awkward to use.

I assume if I looked inside I would see three wires going to DT2 and I could cut and extend those wires to an aftermarket 3-way toggle placed at my convenience. Is that what we're talking about here? Are there other options?

The slide switch is what I am planning on modifying. I believe it will work but haven't done it yet, just a lack of time.

Yeah, but maybe an added toggle would be better as it would allow you to use a double momentary action, (assuming that's a good thing). In any event, is my understanding of the process correct?

can you get aftermarket wheels for the 4pl like you can the pk..if so where are they i google searched it and couldnt find anything..thanks harley"thumbsup"

Harley, thanks for all your advice.
This past weekend was the first field test.
Setup and feel of the radio was just excelent."thumbsup"

Now just to make the wheel look like a Land Rover wheel.

Testing another new smaller RX. No external antenna on this one, just internal. No info on when/if this will be available here.
