Battery specs for MOA?

I can't seem to find the answer via search. I want to know what spec batteries I need for MOA crawler? being that there are 2 motors instead of one I would guess I need double the discharge rate of a battery for a shafty? also is the mah draw double as well? finally if using multiple packs do they get wired in parallel and does the Low voltage cutoff on the Lipo batteries still function when using multiple packs?

It really depends on the runtime you are looking for as well as physical limitations to the battery.

I run 850mAh 30C packs and they provide all the punch my truck needs and will give about 20 minutes of runtime.
 
Like JH said. Mostly run time on the mah, but I would stick with at least 30c's for the punch. When I ran 20c's....:oops:
 
yes, get as high of a C rating as you want to spend, I ran 900mah 20c packs for the longest time (still run them) and it is a noticalbe loss in power, i've got some new batterys on their way to me and I really cant wait. 850mah 45-90c

I honestly wouldnt worry to much about mah but more how much space you have for your lipo, measure your compartment and get a lipo that fits, you'll hate yourself for buying a massive 4000mah cause of how long it'll last, but I can almost guarantee it won't fit in an MOA crawler. I used to run 1100mah packs but had to downsize cause they were to large.
 
Likely an absolute minimum would be ~500mah to run a single course (we sometimes have 6 minute courses), 750+ would give a little more margin as the packs get older.
Since you are looking for small capacity (small "mah") the "C" rating becomes more important. Power to the ESC/motor is a function of "C" & capacity (mah). I would probably look for 35C+, don't worry about getting the "Gazillion C" MaxAmps packs. I have seen nothing that proves they are a lot better than other packs, especially for the money.

Most of us run 3S LiPO's in our 2.2's. I run 3S 1350mah 40C packs from CBP (see next paragraph).8)

I would go to www.CheapBatteryPacks.com and look at their packs. You can see the sizes, ratings, and specify the balance plug as well as connector."thumbsup""thumbsup"
I've never had an issue with their packs (from way back in the NiCD days until now).

As to how to connect multiple packs, depends on what you have & what you want.
Frankly I would skip both and just get packs that work on their own.

The LVC may/may not have issues with multiple packs running at once.

^^^True^^^ Size certainly DOES matter! Especially with the XR10 (as well as most MOA's I'm sure). There is a major space limitation, if you wanna maintain a low COG.

Cool. Thanks. That's right where I was thinking. So you'd recommend 30C or over (the higher the C rating the better)? That's what I'm getting from most guys on here. I just wanna be sure I'm on the same page. "thumbsup"
 
Really, that depends on the draw from the pack.

Also, dont forget that C rating is related to mAh. If you have a high mAh, then you dont need as high of a C rating.....and if you have a low mAh, then you'll need a higher C rating. For example, an 1800mAh 25C pack will have a maximum discharge of 1.8A*25C=45Amps...and a 325mAh 45C pack will have a maximum discharge of 15.8Amps

Battery Discharge Methods
 
I run either of the following 3s packs on my XR10 (2x 16T 454 Cobalt Pullers, 2x Mamba Micro Pros, and a Hitec 7950):

850mah 30C continous (25.5amp) / 45C burst (38.25amp)
or
350mah 65C continous (22.75amp) / 130C burst (45.5amp)

I tested run-time on the 350mah packs at 7 minutes...and get about 16 minutes on the 850mah packs. Most MOA rigs have limited space, and also want to keep as little extra weight as possible. These little packs fit great up on the front axle. I just try to avoid putting extra weight up in the chassis.
 
i´m thinking in use rhinno 1050 mah 40c in my bully 2x microsidewinder,hitec 7950,team brood Onslaught Type HHK-R 45 Turn.
 
i dont mean to take your thread, but what would you guys recommend for me. I am not comping and looking to mess around.

Depends on what you can fit into your rig.

A few advantages of smaller packs are:
1-If one dies, you can still run another
2-Your runtime is limited, thus you allow stuff to cool off when you swap packs.
3-Smaller packs are easier to install

That charger will work ok, but I highly recommend using this one:


CheapBatteryPacks - CBP 6i50 Balancer/Charger AC/DC

It uses the align balance plug, and deans plugs. We only have the 1000 and 1300 mah Elite lipos in stock at the moment. But they are killer. If they will fit, then you cant go wrong:
