I just bought a Jeep body to convert my Honcho and your build was my inspiration. Just wondering if you can tell me a little bit about that rear tire mound and antenna? Thanks

THANKS! It feels good to be someone's inspiration. Those reign parts are essentially the exact same parts as mine, but mine were made by KAETWO (on this forum). His spare tire mount looks slightly different but you can't see it because the tire covers it. Let me know if you want close up shots of each, I'd be happy to do it. "thumbsup"

Got to go out crawling today with my wife and my dog. Went to a place near GreenRiver, UTAH called Crystal Geyser. It a geyser next to the Green River that is caused by CO2 or something and shoots over 100 feet high when it erupts. The water then flows back down to the river and leaves this red/orange deposit that hardens up in ripples. SUPER grippy. And fun. I couldn't decide which pictures to put so I will put them all for your visual enjoyment :mrgreen:

This is my honcho (Taco) taking this line, but it gives you a good idea of the terrain. Made it up this once with the jeep too, but taco is definitely my better performing rig.

dude i'm BEYOND jealous that i had to work today and couldn't come. i for how beautiful crystal gyser is! and that rock looks like a blast to play on! these pics left me like speechless. that one with jeep's tire in a little pool. sick. how did they do in soft/deep sand?? can you believe the weather today?! it was so pleasant!

edit: your wifey needs to talk to mine and get her to try crawling just once.

Ya it was definitely a fun place to crawl. And lots of cool places on the way there too. That pic with the front tire in the water is one of my fav's. I was trying to just get the reflection but that turned out cool. The pit bulls did better in the sand than the flat irons because of their bigger footprint, and more wheel speed would have helped in the sand, but not worth sacrificing my slow speed crawl-abilities.
The weather was AWESOME! Such a nice day. Light jacket weather and the hands didn't get cold. I'll have to have my wife have a little talk with yours ha ha "thumbsup"

During this build I keep telling myself that I am going to be more careful with this rig and drive it nicely. Turns out I have a hard time with that, and a couple of spills proved to be fatal for my scale accessories. Maybe the roof rack isn't the best place for these.

The jack broke on a tip over. Later I was climbing up a crack and got too close to one side, and the shovel decided to grab the wall. It lost.... Luckily, I got my package today from yoda@4x4 which was supposed to only have a fire extinguisher, but he also threw in a hilift jack, gas can, and coca cola box. THANKS AGAIN yoda@4x4 !

I think a little JB weld will fix the shovel right up.

Thanks! I appreciate it. :mrgreen: The fire extinguisher got mounted on Taco, the gas can I haven't decided yet, and the coke box will probably go in the jeep once I have an interior. (even though I hate coke... too bad its not a Mt Dew box "thumbsup")

Thanks! It is actually painted like regular on the inside, then Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear spray on the outside of the body. Check out this thread.

Thanks wally! I dig your rigs, so that means alot. I've got a hilux body coming for Christmas to go on my Taco. Your hilux is one of my inspirations for that. Love the Tundruggy too though :mrgreen:

I've done that before. Unfortunately you can't get the flat clear any more because it's discontinued. They have a clear gloss but it's TS for plastic. It works sort of but still to shiney

I've used Matt clear coat Krylon from walmart. Works great! If you use a very light coat (like a dusting coat) it doesn't flake off. Just gets did of the gloss!

So when I had this thing stripped down to nothing in the beginning I figured I would flip the tranny since I already had it all apart. I had never done it so I figured that was as good a time as any to test the theory of eliminating torque twist. When all was said and done, I wasn't overly impressed. I've never had bad torque twist anyway. Come to find out flipping the tranny and mirroring the tranny are two different things (as I learned in another thread) So tonight I decided to give it another shot.

Now the theory makes way more sense, putting the weight of the motor on the side of the lifting tire. I also mounted my huge 5.0 battery. Put more weight over the front.

Did a couple runs on my rock pile on my front porch and it seems to have helped. We'll see once I get out on some real rock climbs.
