~~ Stormin's Test Set of 2.2 Dlux Wheels ~~

Yeah, my wheel width is all about the tires and foam combo I run, not to tall with wide wheels. I'll be running my same tire and foam combination on both trucks Sporty and XR, cut and shut Haters with CI foams it's a set up that doesn't work well with narrow wheels.

I'll also be running both trucks at the same width. "thumbsup"

If you have any VP SLW wheels the Dlux wheels will be 1/8" narrower than the SLW using the same hub, does that help Mike?

The difference from an SLW to my wheels with the exact same hub would be .300 per side or .600 overall, over 1/2" (.500).

If you run my 1/4" CDW style spacer you will be really close to where an SLW would be with the same hub. You would be .040 less per side or .080 over all, just over 1/16" of an inch (.060).

ok makes sense now.. back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the review Norm.. They sure are easy to mount once you get the hang of it..

Not to jack your thread but heres my set with the prototype weight set.. Stainless slugs are production parts.

No problem djjiz post them up please, this thread is about the Dlux light weight wheels anyone with photos that wants to post or comment about the product is more than welcome to. Getting information out about the wheels is important.

That's a nice set-up thanks for sharing. "thumbsup"

Here's my set. I need to order DH hubs myself and should have my crawler rolling again this weekend. This set will be run on my BJv4 XR10. Mine are .7 wide with the same weight set as jiz. Ill be running the clear faces as well but also have a set of delron faces.

Seriously, thank you Dlux for my set!

Oh snap, there goes my advantage. :ror:

I am loving my clear faces and have zero issues with them and i only run 3 screws in the hub. I have had some good falls too. But i have seen a couple of the other guys around with them beat the living crap out of them and they are still holding up so my testing hasn't been as thorough as theirs:lmao:

I'm very sorry stubs I just realized re-reading this thread before I post a update I didn't comment on your post.

I'm not at all concerned about the strength of the wheels sure a huge fall is about the best chance to damage them but it would take something very unusual. "thumbsup"

Picking back up on my binding problem, the steering arm hitting the screws on the inside bead lock.

I picked up some wheel spacers from Crawler Design Works to solve my clearance problem.

I decided I wanted them to blend with the VP hubs being they would be seen. So I gave them a light coat of Bull Dog adhesion promoter and a coat of silver Tamiya model paint. They came out nice and I guarantee that the paint is bonded to the Delrin spacer material.

I ordered (4) 1/8" and (2) 1/16" spacers from Crawler Design Works and as you can see they are nicely machined and finished, they are truly very nice. They sell for $5 a pair.

Erik Dlux will also be offering a 1/4" spacer soon. We love choices the more the better, Thanks guys. "thumbsup"

They gave me just enough room for (2) more Felsenfest weights on each side bringing the total grand total of weight below the critical axle line to 4 oz. each wheel.

Those stock screws will need to be a bit longer if you sue more than one spacer.

After a few trys at getting the 1/8 and 1/16 balanced and a screw started I decided to use a little tie wire to hold them in place and align the holes. It proved to be the fastest way to install two spacers on one hub, but I got the 3/16 I needed to free up the front wheels.

With rings installed I think, they look like part of the hub.

I wasn't sure how I'd like the clear faces but they kind of grow on you and if they don't you have lots of options. Like Krawler Koncepts inside Disc's. They will be selling for $35 a set and we all know what Michelle can do custom orders.

With my front wheels freed up, it looks like my next mission will be give them some rock love this weekend.

Very nice Norm.

Those CDW spacers should be in every bodies tool box regardless of the wheels. You have no idea how nice they are to have around until you have them. Another thought is that if you get an 1/8 spacer its really like owning two sets of SLW hubs. If you have a set of 1/8 spacers and two sets of SLW hubs its really like owning 4 sets of hubs. As you can see, they multiply the original hubs making them pretty valuable IMO.
