I installed an open diff in the Rock Rider. It can actually bash now! Handling and turning at speed is so much better

I packed it full of grease but it totally losses traction as soon as 1 wheel hits a vertical. I'll see how it does on the big hill tomorrow.

Try silly putty it works great. When I open the front of Mayhem thats what I use.

Hi guys, noob here (hell it's my first post). Just built my first SCX10 and I'm looking for someone to run with. I'm in Chicago, north side and while the forest preserve trials are fun, it would be nice to drive with other people. Found this NIRC chit chat but haven't seen much talk about the club itself...granted, I didn't go through all 64 pages of this thread. What's the trick to getting in on the meets? Should I just show up to one of the events, like the Polar Bear next weekend? Thanks!

Yeah man... Come on down to the next event (this sunday). Just show up! We'll help you figure out how to get there. Its probably too late in the series to be competative but, you can run for fun.

What does your truck consist of? Pics?

Even if it was early in the season I doubt I'd be competitive, ha. Sounds good!

It's a work in progress. Here's a few things I've done so far:

Purchased one of the last discontinued Honcho kits from RPP
Tekin 35t Pro Hand Wound
Tekin FXR
Full Robinson Racing Steel Transmission Gears
MIP Drive Shafts
Aluminum Knuckles, C-Hubs and Straight Axel Adapters
Axial Night Vision System
DH Fab front Bumper
3Racing Winch (waiting on my Heyok controller to arrive)
Pit Bull Rock Beast Tires (6 oz front weight, 2 oz in rear)
Traxxas 2075 Waterproof Servo (may be changing to something with metal gears)
Replaced most hardware with stainless

Here are a couple photos:

Hell yea man.. Thats a pretty nice list of parts."thumbsup"
Should do good. Theres a few of us running scx10 based rigs in class2.

Nice looking Honcho! Are your electronics waterproof? You can just zip tie a balloon around your receiver. The Traxxas servo won't last to long. You can waterproof any servo though... just fill the circuits full of dielectric grease.
And yup, just show up and you're in "thumbsup"

Where do you live? badhoopty lives on the N side and I'm just over the border in Evanston.

Yep, all waterproof. I'm a plasti-dip addict. Totally submerged the thing in the creek yesterday and no problems. The water sure is hard on your brushes in the motor though, need to replace them this week. I ate one of them completely up (not sure why just one).

I live near Western and Lawrence.

It is near Roselle. Just north of the intersection of Lake and Rosedale. You can only go one direction on rose dale and we meet at a small parking area on the left about 200 yards from the intersection.

Actually, I don't see anything wrong with them. I actually think we need to re think our winching. Using a persons hand as a winch attachment point is just wrong as it is mobile. It also makes winching too easy and too fast. If, as the intent of rule is and was, have to anchor to an obstacle, another RC truck or to a pull pal, it will make a significant difference in the way we use a winch.

Well it looks like there has been some changes in the rules.

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/scale-comp-rules/357218-2012-sorcca-scale-rules.html#post3481047

I see a few thing that I don't agree with. Maybe we should talk about if where still going to follow these since we have no input in these rules.

I feel we should just go with what we have been using. Keeping it loose is what is keeping it fun.

What don't you like? They are not much different from last year.

Fun is what you make it!! "thumbsup"

Im cool with it. It seems like we should just follow the same rules as everyone else so were all on the same page.. Making personalized changes can get confusing. If we want to fudge it a little, lets decide that during each event.

I agree Rick.

As an aside, I have an iPhone app for scoring. It is also available for you Android (or is that Hemorrhoid) fans. it is called RCRC. One of the forum members wrote it.

Thats a cool app! Only bad thing is.. Its not in ink!

Gotta keep an extra hard eye on those people that magically win all the time:lmao:

Just kiddin.. I cant wait till sunday! We doin rocks or trails?
