Yeah, I think it would be cool to camp in a tent as well but I'd be down for whatever. I can charge batteries from my truck...you guys probably can too.

Edit: I also have a 110v standard power outlet in the bed of my truck if we need to temporarily use it for repairs, etc. The truck has to be running for it to work.

I can go either way, I actually like camping but don't have a tent... I do have a sleeping bag that has been in the basement for a decade!
I better check it.
I don't mind buying a tent.
Any recommendations?
I'm thinking 3 person, 3 season fairly lightweight.

As far as the weekend, I'm 90% sure I can go... just gotta check with my event coordinator.

I have alligator clips for the power supply that came with my old charger.

I think mines a three person and really it's good for just me. I can fit a double bed air mattress in it. I definately wouldn't want three people in it. I got it at Walmart 4 or 5 years back and it's held up just fine, it's actually pretty nice. I've only used it twice I think. I don't use mine enough to justify buying a nice one.

Edit that...it would fit me and two hot girls just fine...I would be okay with three people in that situation.

i seem to remember posting a thread about a weekend trip...

i'm not sold on the cabin at starved rock.

The Cliffs Off-Road Park | Lodging

feel free to hunt around starved rock for places to wheel... i know for a fact cliffs offroad park has good spots.

I actually prefer Cliffs I think, but if we are there Saturday and Sunday, we could do both. I really can't do the tent thing so I will get a hotel room.

here's a post I found on dogfriendly.com about Starved Rock:

DogFriendly.com's Travel Guide: Starved Rock State Park

Rich in Native American lore, colonial history, and recreation, this park offers 13 miles of blazed trails, and unusual beauty from the glacial and stream erosion activity that created its 18 canyons and striking waterfall and rock formations. Dogs are allowed throughout the park and in the camp area for no additional fee. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after. Camp sites are reserveable and first come first served; there are flush and pit toilets, water, showers, a playground, a camp store, and a dump station. Permits are required and may be obtained from the park office or permit booth, and the campgrounds close during firearm deer season. This RV park is closed during the off-season. The camping and tent areas also allow dogs. There is a dog walk area at the campground. There are no water hookups at the campgrounds.

i feel like i dont want to be making the decision to commit to a cabin just yet. if i go down to that area i will be flat towing the 1:1 timmy and i aint sure about parking the whole setup at the cabin. might be best for me to get something closer to cliffs offroad park. that way i can just drive timmy to the park and back instead of having to unhook the driveshafts and mount the towbar and all that crap.

cliffs does however shut down at 5pm.

i can definitely give the guys at cliffs a call and see if they have any objections to us running little trucks. i would assume as long as we dont expect the guys in the 4wheelers and trucks to go around us we will be fine.

i can definitely get timmy anywhere in the park, the yota to about 75% of the spots.

i'm down for anything i guess... would like to take the gf with me so thats why i'm not sold on the cabin thing. but then again i wouldnt want her just hanging out in a shitty hotel room. i dunno how she would like a tent...

ok june 2nd cliffs will have some of its trails shut down for some 'king of the cliffs offroad challenge'. i'd imagine its all the burly trails.

the rest of the park will be open to everybody but still there will be an unusual amount of people there that day so maybe its best to run rc's around starved rock park on saturday and those who want to see what the cliffs is about we can hit that place up sunday, and i can take timmy wheeling a little bit. "thumbsup"

I'm a little confused.

I'd like to go camping.. In a tent with a girl and a dog. I don't have a very capable 4x4 right now but, I want to do R/C stuff as well as BBQ's and beer drinkin with fire.

I think this is the main plan... but I doubt my girl/dogs will join us.

I am leaning more on a hotel room. My wife won't be coming so I will be on my own. I am up for either or both parks. If the tent guys camp, we could all hang out and have a fire, and still have the hotel room for charging.

Yeah, It would be cool to have a main camp site setup with tents, fire pit, etc. that we could all hang out at. Then there can be the hotel room for the hotel room guys and when electricity is needed. The offroad guys can check that out and whatever. We could split up, explore, do some r/c..maybe a one day mini comp.. Meet back at the site for food, etc. something like that?

Hey Chris.. Someone started a thred about where R2J is..

Here's what he said:

I'm OK. Just super busy with a new venture in my day to day life.

And now since it has come up, I will be stepping away from RCC as a vendor to allow the time needed to pursue my new career path and also spend the much need time with my wonderful wife and kids.

RCC has been very kind to me and I have enjoyed creating, learning new skills and most all, making new and dear friends!

As for any outstanding orders and projects, I will still complete as agreed. And your patience is very much appreciated!

Regards, Shon

that could work... I may even be able to get the wife and kid along for that sort of thing. They aren't really into the whole comp scene

Ok, I just talked to Steve at Cliffs. He said no problem on 2 and 3 June. He also said we can stay and run the R/Cs after dark. $ 20 a driver wether it is RC or 1:1, $5 a spectator.

So we can do Cliffs all weekend or Cliffs Saturday and Starved Rock on Sunday.

There are campgrounds close and hotels in Morris, about 15 mins away.

What do you guys think of opening this up to the Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana guys? Or just keep it Illinois or just NIRC?

Itd be pretty cool to have like a 2-3 day comp event with the whole camping campfires/ fishing/ smores and just manning the hell out.
