My 6x6 Trial Truck

Cool...this thing will be the beaste of all beasties...gonna be so bad.
I got the missing link today...will post up some pics of this setup as soon as I get my space cleaned up....."thumbsup"

We are dealing with 1/4" carbon Steele ....not break line ...totally different animal ...$hit is hard to bend. We've devised a home made bending system that can handle this stuff...

Totally purchase able at you local hardware store...hope we can heat it up enough to braze it....

Let me know if I can be of any service to you with the driveline. I've modified a few for various projects.

Looking good BTW. Nice to see it coming together. "thumbsup"

Thanks Dean, means a lot coming from Mr. 6x6. Will be bouncing some ideas off of you "thumbsup"

Looking forward to getting it going Greg, looks cool rolling already. The rest of it is just tasty icing for me

Well, been trying to hack up a lung the last few days...slept in this morning per the boss' instructions and felt good enough to get some pics of our tube bending set up.

As we mentioned before, this is 1/4" carbon steel tube...this stuff is a lot tougher to bend than break tubing. Did quite a bit of searching like a good rcc'er should, and saw the "Sioux Chief" drain DIY bender. Thought we'd give that a try, but could not find anything but PVC drains...obviously not strong enough. But did find this plate...

Nuts and bolts added....these needed to be 5/16" hardware because of hole size.

Top plate added and a bushing on the pivot point....nuts in the previous pic were for support

Pivot arm....with roller bushing. Kind of like a cheater bar

This pic was taken with the shorter pivot bolt...the longer bolt works real well Cyrus...adds the required stability to the cheater bar and keeps it flat to the surface

As you can see, there is some discoloration on one bend...we are trying to get as tight a 90* bend as possible without crimping the metal...so we tried a bit of heat. After some trial and error, some wasted material and a few blisters (can't forget the metal is a bit hot). I believe we get just as good a 90 out of cold metal as we do hot.

Stay tuned....this build is gonna be one to remember..."thumbsup" glad to be a part of it

Glad to see the tube work is off to a great start. I'm off today too and was thinking about some rc fabbin'. Now that you've got your jig set up I'm excited to see an outline of this build.

Thanks Justin! The plans are pretty much done for the tube, just gotta be executed. As for the cab, I was thinkin of military-ish/industrial-ish colors.. still up in the air.

Take a look at some GLobal extreme vehicles. Their awesome looking. I might go to the miniature shop sometime this week. Let me know what to look for.

I think after this we're off and running...already thinking how to do the bed rails and the skirts.
hard to concentrate on work today...head feels like I'm on a swivel..

Hey Justin...I'd like to find a miniature generator....

They do look awesome. Going for that scale, go anywhere look.

I liked that homemade cooler you had... Anymore of those?

Yeah bender was a small hurdle, should be tube and body mounting now.

Sick build thus far dude. You must have a boat load of hours in and ahead of you...Keep on the updates homie!"thumbsup"

Much appreciated "thumbsup" You're right about the hours, chassis looked like nothing but its time consuming. If you keep track that is... Trying to stop that

Ah...I think I like building chit just as much as crawling with it. Only problem is, all the rigs are sitting there asking you if it's their turn to go out and play on the rocks :ror:

It's kind of funny to think that way about my rigs. Reminds me of toy story. I'm pretty sure they all get excited when they see a battery on the charger. Lol:lmao:

Awesome project! Ive got three Tonka's on my work bench for something similar!

I youtube Truck Trials videos all the time! I cant get enough of that stuff....

Thanks! "thumbsup" The driving force to use the Tonka cab for me was the width, not many rc cabs are wide enough for the scx axle.

Great Scot Batman, that's one sick build!!!

Thank you sir, its coming along slowly but surely.

nice build, i can always count on you guys to help me spend money
question about the link setup on the front axles.
it looks like the front axles lower links are attached to the center lower link mounts and both fronts run a single upper link. that correct?
