i want to run it w/ the motor forward, but on the pass side (tranny hump too obviously)
this would required swaping the side plates out. but i cant tell how the bearings are held in (flanged?) and if all the gears shafts can be flipped, since the pinion would be on the opposite side.

a few pics ive found of it

I don't see why it couldn't be done. The holes go through the plates, so it looks like you could just pop out the bushings and flip the plate around and the gears.

I have a 2-speed R2 at home, I'll take a look.

Just turn it around and change your motor wires.

lol im not doing it for motor direction;-)
doing it for driver side interior room and weight biased.

thanks Shon, that would be a great help, although the 2 speed might be enough different to not be able to tell? i would be curious to know whats holding those bearings in the sideplates though.
i cant think of a reason why the shaftsgears wouldnt easily flip?

this is how I've done it before, be careful with those bearings, they are on the fragile side, especially the flange.

ahh i think i figured out the confusion. i never noticed this until your post.
the silver tranny and black tranny are actually different in the pics.

i want the black tranny, but i want it built like the silver ones in the pics.
ie i want the motor pointing forward and the hump on the passenger side. thats exactly how it is on the silver pics above. but the black one is built opposite. never realized that because i was always browsing there site looking at the black one only. i wonder which way they are actually built/shipped?

Humm? I didn't notice that either. I would say then you should be able to switch it around for sure if it comes opposite of the silver one. I had a silver one a way back and it was built just like the one pictured and the 2-speed version I have is built the same, as the silver one too.
