AX2 2 Speed Transmission for Axial Wraith & SCX10/Honcho

Great Transmission I am loving mine but will be upgrading the spur last run striped most of the teeth off the spur.

The internal gears are hardened steel. You should not need a steel spur. The stock spur is Delrin, with a proper mesh it should be fine.

However, I'm sure some other brand steel spurs gears fit. The spur adapter can take Axial, Robinson and Traxxas gears.

I can not find the transmission on the web site, is it still available? The only thing that I am finding are some parts for it.

Thanks to Jeepfixer1's post about the gear cover I decided to try it and with a little work I made it fit in my Honcho. It's not easy but it will work."thumbsup"

Has anyone tried fitting the gear cover behind the motor plate like the stock one is? If you use a sub micro servo make sure to set enpoints otherwise you'll burn out the servo:roll: like my first one. Before I could get it set it smoked the traxxas one.

What would you say are good starting points on the micro?

Have some ax2 questions, my younger cousin bought one with a micro servo for his scx 10.
He is only 16 and saved up for almost 5 months just to get one!(he was going for the summit originally) I fitted it today with his 55t until he can find a lower turn motor.

There seems to be way to much slop between fwd/rvse
Is this normal? I installed it as it came and havent pulled it apart, all I did was check all screws are tight.

He is pretty upset as when you climb something and stop on the peak of an object it seems to roll forward untill the slop has been taken up.

With the OEM axial single speed trans it has no slop so its not a drive train issue .

Please help, ive had terrible luck eith alot of rc4wd products and kits and did advice against but nether the less he wanted a 2 speed.

It's not slop, it's the shift meachanism. In order for it to be able to shift on the throttle there are slots cut into the gears. So the gears needs to rotate a maximum of 120 degrees to engage after shifting.

All two (summit) or three speed (Tamiya) transmissions have this characteristic.
