Demo's upcoming Mantis build

Dude thanks for the explanation on the clocking. I learned something. I should say that I'm mostly a heli pilot but mess around with everything RC. Don't laugh or yeah go ahead and laugh because I was approaching the clocking as a way to make my motor have more clearance so it wouldn't get hung on stuff. Now that you explained it I did notice when I was crawling that the ups where the bomb. All you need is to do is get the front tires over a ledge and it was up it. I will back it off a tad so my downs are real good also. So far it hasn't been a problem but anything that makes it better I'm good with. Also I don't and will never comp. This is just for fun for me. So far I haven't cared about width or length other than I want it correct so that it performs as best it can. Tuning is the gray area for me which is why I started posting here so I could learn from people that are more knowledgeable. I read plenty and absorb but there is still a lot I don't understand about suspension tuning. As far as the shocks go they seem good to me. I mainly chose them for the aesthetics lol. I have the screws backed out because I wanted the shock to be neutral. I'm happy with them but the diameter is a little large IMO. The normal size 10th scale shocks would probably fit better. They do seem nice and soft though. I'm using a 3 hole piston and 40w oil.

Maybe try dropping your shock oil down to 30wt. It's all preference, but I have the next to softest Losi springs on LCC shocks with 30wt and they to me are the sweet spot. I was running white Losi springs with 40wt oil and the front end just seemed unpredictable. Definitely not as fluid as it is now.

Super stoked tonight. Got everything in and calibrated ready to roll. Let me say, manually calibrating two Micro SWs was interesting to say the least. All that needs calibrating now is my BEC, need to bump the voltage up to the 7.4v max for the Hitec servo 7950. That will gain an extra 84oz of torque to push the stickies around.

I submit the following for the "wiring of the day" award.

Nice dude!! I bet your excited to drive it. I know I was. Between all the waiting on parts to be delivered I was like COME ON ALREADY lol. Btw I noticed you were using the cage style rowdy mount. My fried polished mine and it comes out good. Just in case you want to bling it a little.

So Demo did you stick with the rock 45's for now? It would be interesting to see how good the drag is with better esc's installed.

She is in the back seat of the 2500 and ready for some test and tune this evening. I am going to run the RockStar 45s for the first bit but I dont think they will last long as the drag brake is crap using them.
Dialed in the 4pl last night per Harleys video in the sticky section, man that made life easy.
PIC TONIGHT!

Turn your drag brake up to 213%. Shouldn't have any trouble with the Novaks unless they are really worn out.

I may be able to get more adjustment by using the CastleLink through the PC but the most you can do througj manual setup is 40% I belive. I will look into it. Thanks for the tip.

That was gonna be my next question. Yeah hook them up to a castle link and turn them nabies up.

Took the Mantis out on my lunch break to a little artsy fartsy rock pile near the plant here in WV. This thing is incredible and is so predictable its not even funny. The drag brake is the only complaint I have about it just like it is. I cant wait till the chassis breaks in a bit and she really start flexing.
I will grab some pics tonight when I hit a diffrent rock pile.

The Mantis rocks (pun intended)!! I saw your wraith build and that is sweet also. I bought a wraith but only built it 3/4 of the way. Decided not to finish it. Probably gonna dump it on the bay lol. Yours going to be sick though. I see you having trouble in the future deciding what truck to drive :-).

Red cf would be sick! But it would be bright red, not like the vp dark red.. cf would be just as sick! Tho I like the tinted lexan addicted2rc runs on his.. I think he should post some pics in his thread an bring you guys up to date on his rig! :D

Show off that mantis already Brian!

Do you not have a castle link yet? I can bring my laptop to Sundays comp and turn that dragbrake all the way up for you.

Much to my disappointment, I wont be making it Sunday. I changed jobs and I have to move my camper from Va to WV this Sunday. Not happy about it especially since the XR is complete now. I will get in on the next on for sure though. Thanks for the offer.
