Inexpensive 2.2 wheels

Looking for cheaper 2.2's for a wraith. I'd really like either aluminum or steel. Plastic is an option but I'd rather use metal. I've searched and searched and I'm just looking for some recent info. I came across the rc4wd steelies but have a couple questions. I've seen that some have issues mounting tsl's onto them, is this still the case? Is it just hard to mount or is it impossible? Also, how do the pin drive hubs work as compared to hex drive? The pin drive is one of the things I didn't like about the stock trail ready bead locks. Of course those were plastic. Is there any other rims I should be looking at in that same price range of around $50/set?

Im running the axial plastic beadlocks. No issues or complaints here.

The only other option would be RC4WD steelies, But then you would be hit or miss with tires. My Proline swampers wont fit them...

Which Axial wheels are you running?

Axial plastic XR10 beadlocks on my Wraith for couple years, holding stock Ripsaws well on 3s 21T Titan power. Or go with the RC4WD steelies with the other (blue) retaining ring if needed....that may be my next set of wheels for mine. Pin drive is fine, just carry spare pins on the trail in case you remove a wheel and lose one.

The Axial 2.2 8 hole plastic beadlocks are great wheels, but the offset makes the already wide Wraith too wide.

Yep. I can recommend the 8 hole bead locks. They are cheap, and serve their purpose, you can even buy the weights for them or tape your own weights in. Im not exactly easy on my rigs and they have held up fine so far.

What hubs are you using on those, are they SLW compatible? Will VP hubs work on them?

SLW? VP?

Sorry, Im new

They bolt right up to stock axial axles with the hexes. That is how I am running them.

SLW is the six holes bolt pattern, I believe. But I think some company make their bolt pattern a little different.

VP is Vanquish Products, they make the SLW hubs as well as other great products.

Six lug wheel. Gotya

Im not after scale so I do not pay much attention to that stuff. I got these wheels because they were cheap and I break a lot of stuff. So far they have given me 0 problems. Well, I have had to take them apart a few times to get the tires mounted so they are centered and do not do the "wobbly" effect. That is due to my inexperience however. I could potentially see that if you were to mount a different set of tires weekly you make have issues with the plastic threads wearing out. But that is to be expected with metal screws and plastic threads on the wheel.

I also do not own any Vanquish products...yet...

The MT-28's from RC4WD are pretty sweet and cheap, $55 a set. I have a set and have been putting them through hell and they are still holding up.

Check out the proline titus's. I've had a slew of sets, & have never had an issue. That's on scalers & crawlers alike. They're plastic, but anyone will tell ya, all beadlocks should work so well! Plus they're light, but ez to load up with weight, if that's your gig."thumbsup"
