Ultra Custom D-Lux build

That Lunsford ti is super nice.

I might have to upgrade my hardware someday.
I'm just running all steel throughout my axles, but mine were one of the first tester sets off the mill.

Big bores:
Lathed down for good looks, weight and to eliminate binding on the spring
Cap mod for smooth operation
No preload spring cups to get exactly how much pre load I want.

"thumbsup"

Some of Dlux's parts are often imitated but never duplicated.....

I helped with the design of this chassis so I am pretty bias towards it. I had been running it on my XR and I LOVE IT. I can go drive with Erik and he can tell me exactly what to do with the placement of parts depending on how I am feeling. Of course, now that I have the ultra lite axles, I will most likely just run exactly what he does because I have had my butt whooped, and I mean whooped by that car too many times. :flipoff: Erik will be the only one to make many of the "hard core" obstacles around here.

Of course you have to have the proven design of the Dlux links to top it all off.

Erik's a driver for sure! Besides being a crazy mad scientist, I think that this is what makes him such a great builder too.

It's nice to see threads that almost seem dedicated to the dude that has helped me the most. I'm still woop'n on the first set of axles he built for me without an issue. Erik is a great vendor and a better bud. Good stuff!

I was able to get a lot of work done on this car over the Christmas week.

First, I wanted to show off my growing collection of tires and wheels. I was happy with just one set not too long ago. Next thing you know, I had to have a set of VooDoos mounted up along with my rovers and then Sedonas. You guys know how it goes. I cant wait for my next set of wheels.

Next, I got to help Erik design the new 7075 skid for the Ultra chassis and I got to make my own. I am so excited to test this out!

I already had my old panels from my XR so everything pretty much bolted up and was ready to go after these mods.

I got a chance to go to wendover this weekend with erik to do some testing.
The 7075 skid was awesome!!! Found that it slides better than the old skid for sure."thumbsup".
I was expecting the skid to be better but the one thing I wasn't sure of was Voodoos in wendover. I have heard from some that pins are no good there.but after a day of crawling with them THEY KILLED IT!!!! The others I was crawling with were all running rovers in different configurations. The Voodoos had an advantage no dout"thumbsup". Can't wait to try them at some other locations here in Utah.

Rig looks great. How is your weight? I also am impressed with the voodoo tires. They just keep getting better each pack. I can not decide to cut pins or not.

Thanks man!!! I'm not sure on my weight right now because I just changed a few things Friday night. I was 4.9 pounds running 8.6oz of knuckle weight per side. I just lowered that number but didn't have time to re weigh. I will post up when I get a chance to weigh it.

I decided to cut the front like scalididogs and am really liking them.
I think I'm regretting cutting the rear though.seems to add too much traction for the long steep climbs we have here.

I snapped a couple of simple "finished" pictures while I was out. I am absolutely loving this car! I cant believe there is such a difference between this and my XR. I am also more than happy that I let Dlux talk me into the non 8* setup. I can tell a big difference.

I also figured this build deserves a fresh set of panels. I am pretty stoked about how they turned out.

Congrats Kyle on your first win! Well deserved and I am stoked it was the first comp with the new car. How much are you missing your XR now?

Thanks D!!! I'm stoked. The new car is working awesome!!!. HUGE thanks to you for your help with the car."thumbsup" And for making the sickest parts on the planet.
I always felt like my XR was holding me back a little.

Also have to mention the Voodoo's. I am just blown away by the traction!
