The Chop Shop- 1990 Class 1 Topless K5 Blazer

nice work my friend"thumbsup"
looking forward to seeing ya at ECSC 2014:mrgreen:
Thanks man, I'll be there for sure.

man this thing is epic. you KNOW i love it
have you thought about painting the wheels black? seems like overall the truck has a "dark" feel:twisted:
Thank you sir. It has crossed my mind to paint the wheels and it's definately not out of the question.

Damb Name very cool! Nice work and great detail!
Thanks Shon!

You really kicked ass on this one buddy!
Thanks Donnie. And thanks for the idea on the tape.

Just to let you guys in the loop, we were talking about how to test/tune without scratching the body all the hell before the 2014 ECSC Show N Shine/comp in August. Don told me to use some masking tape down the sides and all to help protect things prior to the show. Very good idea I must say "thumbsup".

Don's full of useless information.

anyway to get ahold of the gentleman that made the dashboard i think i found him on Facebook but no response please help
No sorry. He's a tough dude to get ahold of. Keep trying though and he may make one for you. I would make some myself but it wouldn't seem right knocking off someone elses stuff and selling it, sorry.

So after it's first outing in a comp setting it cleared over 60 gates with no break downs and only minimal damage. Here's how it looked once I got it back in the shop.

It rolled down a few hills here and there, but it handled great. Only a few more runs will tell but I think it's ready for the ECSC in PA this year.

It turned out looking very Nice,,, great work
Thanks man "thumbsup"

nice man glad its working well for you. should be nice to have one that sticks to the ground more than the d90 did
No joke. Build and learn though.

How'd you like the baja claws?

They're OK. They worked better for me backwards than forwards. It's hard to find a good C1 tire that doesnt pack sand/mud into the tread.

yeah man. they are definitely more tightly packed. but they should work really well i have the same ones now, but dont have them dirty yet.

Wheels speed helps clear the lugs out. I dropped to a 10t pinion to reduce my wheelspeed. I had this thing flying across the yard, way to fast IMO. The tires would balloon like crazy, lol.

Im proud of you for getting it dirty, Im not sure I could have!
lmao, I have clear film on the sides to protect the paint work for the Show n Shine at this years ECSC. It works great btw!

I thought the same thing when I had them. They look cool though.
Yeah, they're very realistic.

A small update on this rig. My left hand turns are wider than my right hand turns. I checked the servo horn placement and it's all correct. I'm not sure whats going on there really. I did instal UD gears in the back, so now I'm running OD/UD and it has made for some crazy tight turns...to the right . I also sent in a submission for Readers Showoff in RCDriver. This was my first time trying for something like this and I made it in the very next months issue . It's a small appearance, but cool as hell none the less. I'm still not sure why LockedUPRC wasn't mentioned. I only wrote their name like 20 times in my email, lol.

Hey bro ......Nice work and nice job landing a some shine in the magazine!!!! You are a great source of inspiration and motivation !!!

Hmmm, dropped from a 5 star rating to a 3, lol. :flipoff: the haters.

Dude that's awesome. So what's next build a truck to make the cover?

I dont know about a source of inspiration, haha...but thanks man.

Wow dude outstanding work! i know who i am going to if i ever need a scale body ;)
Thank you sir "thumbsup".

So I've got a nice update on this rig. I've been working with Mike Weigand who is a vendor on here...well, he's doing the work, I'm doing the drooling, lol. He has developed these ultra thin light bars that I think he's calling the Scale Blazer Light Bar (? Maybe) Either way, it's sure to change things up. Check out how thin this beast is! (WARNING- you may want to move your keyboard. Speed Weigand and myself are not responsible for replacing damaged electronics due to excessive drooling, lol)

I used some VP light bar brackets for a JK to mount them with.

How nice is it to see a light bar that looks realistic?!? It's not a huge block stuck on top of the cab. I've been wanting to mount oine up there for a while, but all of them that are available to us are big, metal, bulky, to dim, to expensive...basically just not what I was looking for in a scale comp rig. This one on the other hand, is just right in my opinion.

So how bright is it? Very bright. They'll run on at least 3S up to 4S (if I remember correctly). My lense was painted transparent silver to give it a scale look when the lights not on, so that cuts down just a little. He makes them in clear though, and that my friend is somewhere around 800 lumens I believe.

With the new found light, I had to take it our on my backyard course for a night run. Here's what it looked like.
