Chrysler tells schools to destroy donated vipers

Hmm, if its such a big deal why are they not giving them street legal cars? After all we are talking about irresponsible college kids. :ror:

Blame the schools that had the accidents. A $250,000 car or a million dollar lawsuit? Easy math.

Fact.

If I was in that school I'd push to have the car destroyed in grand fashion. Either go do burnouts till you've run out of tires or have an engine blow raffle. $2 a ticket to guess how long it takes to grenade the engine. Drain the oil, put a brick on the gas peddle and see how long it takes to spit all 10 rods out of the block. Just think of all the $ they'd make, "it's for the children" after all right?

It's all liability. Tech schools are required to destroy any cars used for educational purposes, as there is no way to know what or how correctly things were done to it.

No more honest handshake deals anymore. Too many crybabies...

I understand chryslers whole deal on the reason behind the crushing of these vehicles,do I agree with it?NO....if that's the case then just remove the drive train on these cars and problems solved! Why would they just wanna throw away money like that, makes no sense??

To keep from being sued and losing more money.

...there's no VIN# on it so it can't be registered.

But can it still be driven? That's the problem...a school or two had someone take the Viper out and cause an accident which opens the company up to being sued.

What's worse, crushing a $250K car or losing a million dollar lawsuit. Obviously some schools can't be trusted so they all lose out.

itd be awesome for each school to sell them to private collectors who would keep 'em private and then claim them stolen.

sounds like a kneejerk and spitefull reaction from a fiat lawyer or exec. im sure a waiver could be signed where the schools would assume all responsibility for any injury or damage involving the cars.

Would have been sweet to have the v-10 and full drive line for my 1960 dodge crew cab ! Way cooler than the old slant six .

You missed my point,I understand what your saying but what I meant was instead of just throwing away all that money, take a little time and figure out something that helps everyone which in case just take the drive train out,car can't move right but can still be worked on.

Or another case could be have the schools sign a waiver saying that they're not responsible if the leaves the school grounds,or something in those lines?
