Castle Sidewinder3 Drag Brake

I don't have that ESC...
but let me take a stab at a guess.

Are you running it in the brushed mode or brushless mode ?

brushless motors suck if wanting drag brakes.
Brushed motors will offer more drag brake.

I will guess the drag brake settings are different
depending on which mode is selected ?

I'm not familiar with the field link...
maybe having the primary link to adjust using your PC
may allow you more control adjustments ?

Besides the brush mode selection...

I read that some SW3's might require an update/flash
so I would call the mfg'r on that and ask them.

I think having the primary link...
would allow for any updates that may be pertinent.

OK... I'm done guessing. Lol

I could probably answer the question myself if I'd just hook it up, but that's my dilemma. Can't return once hooked up....probably.....I'd imagine.

I'll be running it with a HH Torquemaster Expert (brushed) and have the Castle Field Link and USB so can program via PC as well.

I'm sure it will be fine. No way so many guys are running the SV3* and can only get 40% drag brake.

*Why is it SV3 when it's a SideWINDER 3? Wouldn't SW3 make more sense?

Appreciate the reply, Taco.

I am running 80% drag break an 80% full brake on my SV3 with no problems at all.. Castle Link it up buddy!

Yeah the sv3 has a crawler brake mode..allows you to set the drag brake to 213% at max...I think mine is currently at 100% though...can't remember for sure. But in brushed mode it will go to 100% and it jumps straight from 100 to 213% I believe...

Just thought I'd finalize the issue for people searching for this info in the future.

Drag brake can be adjusted with the Castle Link software from 0-100% in 10% increments and then jump from 100% to 213%.

213% SLAMS on the "brakes" hard.

Perhaps a great setting for serious crawling, but this is for my 4yr old so I have since done some testing and backed it off to 100%, 80%, 50% and then settled on 60%. It still comes to a rather abrupt stop and holds very well on steep inclines, but makes it a little bit more drivable than hammering the "brakes"

So, it can be done (much higher setting than the Driver's Ed Guide suggests), but I recommend doing your own testing to settle on a setting that suits your needs best.

Using the "custom" drag box in the PC programming you can adjust 1% increments, if they still have that custom selection in the software.
