I currently have a Magpul MOE stock in FDE but am looking for an upgrade in Black. Any recommendations? I was thinking about a Magpul ACS. Mako GLR looks interesting but I don't know anyone that has one. Another though is the BCM Gunfighter stock.

It all depends on the build and intended use, but I like the Magpul CTR stocks. Just like the MOE except it has the lock lever to get rid that little bit of wiggle the stocks have. I don't even collapse or extend my stock anyway, since I know what fits me and it stays there.

I don't move mine either once I find my cheek weld position. I have a Nikon P223 scope and when you hit your spot it is flawless. On previous scopes I used the military posistion of the charging handle touching the nose. With the Nikon mounts and a fixed stock posistion, no more need for the nose bump, lol.

A locking stock would be great. I have to check the ACS and the BMG to see if they lock.

I do the nose bump , ex military buddy taught me that, works like a champ and at this point I just find it comfortable for me. But, I'm not shooting optics with any power, I run an Aimpoint and BUIS.

Mission First Tactical Minimalist stock is currently on my AR.

I'm not a fan on the Swiss Army Knife version of the AR with 12 million Accessories bolted on it.

Nice tight fit, no rattle, and lite weight.

I like the K.I.S.S. philosophy and only run a micro red dot.

*If your a FDE guy (I am), and want the Minimalist to match your MagPul FDE, be sure the get the Minimalist in MFT's Scorched Dark Earth.

I find if it doesn't help you shoot, you don't need it. Though at 57, there are some things that I do differently than I originally have though. My vision just doesn't allow the use of a Red Dot, and that sucks as I have a couple. A scope has become a nessesity. I changed from a MOE to a rifle length KeyMod handguard recently for a better grip and added a Magpul AFG grip to help with the arthritis in my hand and wrist. Other than that, I have a big light on it trying to catch some coyotes in the back yard but that is looking like a bust so it is coming off.

I like that minimalist stock, I will have to add it to my list.

I agree. Plus I'm to old and fat to carry all that extra crap around. :ror:

I can still use a dot sight, but I can "see" a time in the near future when I too will need to move to magnified optic.

I recently switched from a YHM Diamond series qual rail to a 15 inch Keymod handguard. Got tired of the pic rails chewing my hands up.

I run a MagPul AFG most of the time, but I've been experimenting with the MagPul XTM handstop as well.

I really like the Minimalist, hope it works out for you if you deside to pick one up.

I'm a huge fan of the Magpul ACS. The cheekweld is wonderful and it's longer than a CTR or other M4 stocks and doesn't pull beard hairs.

I agree, love the KeyMod but the rail segments are a bit high. Surely is comfortable.

Going to go with the Minimalist, I will add the lanyard as I think it will keep the butt stock from getting hung in the brush.

ACS looks good and comfortable but also looks a little too bulky. Here is where I am now with the Coyote light coming off.

It may look bulky, but doesn't feel it at all when handling the rifle, as compared to the CTR (which I also like and have a couple) The cheekweld is totally worth it to me. They make a version without the little storage department, I'm sure makes it a little lighter.. I like it though, and store some spare ear plugs in there and a couple other odds 'n ends.

I try to keep both of my AR's setup like my military M4. Just makes for easier transitioning when going from personal to military weapons.
