Has anyone tried this ebay trans? Aluminum case, steel gears, includes spur n pinion. Seems like a good deal.

That's a lot. That's like 5 dollars in cast aluminum

Like to know how it goes as well. I bought a hot racing aluminim case and had troubles with binding. Went back to stock case. Less weight too!

Any issues with the VP case and binding anyone? Probably not, but curious. Seemed like the lip on mine was just slightly to short so when it came together it was too tight on the gears. Probably could have used washers but then I would have had a giant gap.

The thing about this transmission is all the parts are included, so if it rubs or binds at all i will return it through ebay. Worth a shot, we will see what happens!

Got the transmission installed today. Quality looks good, disassembled it, gears are slant cut and so are spur and pinion. No grease at all inside, put in mobil 1 synthetic like i used when racing 1/8 offroad. Trans isnt as loud as i thought it would be, put just a tic of play in gear mesh and has a nice ring to it, plus sounds more "true" than the stock tranny. Pinion gear might be a little soft, has some teeth marks on it after some testing on my log and rockpile in my back yard. Stock spur will fit the non slipper hub included so im not worried about steel replacements. One thing i didnt like like is the screws for mounting to skid plate are not included. Actually ended up having to cut down 2 screws for the short side as the trans are a fine machine thread vs. the course thread screws for the plastic skid. Overall im very happy for the price.

Wow. but you need to run their pinion gear. Are there any others?

I still wouldn't run any of it, though

Yeah it turns out they are the pineapple gears inside this transmission. I have no issues with that everything seems strong and smooth. Like i said i will probably change the spur and pinion later on but im very happy with the transmission overall.

x2, skip that and buy HR or VP. Helical cut gears are putting extra unnecessary side loads on all the bearings...wtf they have gear cutting tools but don't bother to buy the correct type for the parts they make?
