Has anyone had any luck with online dating and actually met someone descent?

Reading through some of the profiles there and the expectations
of some of the women actually made me laugh out loud to myself.

Basically, ive paid 50 bucks for a membership on a dating site
because i'm serious about finding someone descent. So far the
women on there seem to be nutters and ive lost faith in the whole
thing.

Just thought i'd post here to see what peoples experiences are with online dating. Are they all nutters? Should I just wait to meet someone normally?
Seems a shame because the internet would let you get into contact
with people you normally wouldn't. And I paid 50 bucks for it.

I've never dated the internet, but I have masturbated to it on occasion. I don't know if that counts or not...

Met my wife on Mirc, an internet chat room client..we will celebrate out 17th anniversary on the ninth of this month

Well that's one good story. Congrats on your anniversary.

Congrats to duuuuuuuude on his self indulgent internet sessions.

I'm probably better off looking at old Sasha Grey videos than bothering with
the dating scene. Cheaper, with the same outcome.

Same thing all over the planet. I met my ex-wife 14 years ago on a datingsite in a time when internetdating wasn't that accepted as it is today.
After my divorce i got a membership on some datingsites and met a really nice lady. It didn't work in the long run, but we had a great time together and are still the best of friends.
Last year, end 2014 i got another membership, but it seems like there were no normal woman left. Just the ones who did not reply to my kind written messages and the ones i do not want to be seen with in my worst nightmares :).
Since you paid for it, give it a go. Do not get your hopes up to high however....

For myself i decided (and did find that calm, peacefull state of mind) that it is not the time for a relationship. My dining table is most of the time stuffed with rc's and parts. I have commited myself fully to Rc's and making video's. How the hell should i find time to have a relationship. I made that choice. If a princess will come however (will have to find me), i surely will stuff some parts to the side, making some room to eat :ror:

In my daytime job - this is the part where it gets interesting - i see a lot of of people who are getting married (i am a professional photographer with wedding photography as a flagship) and i asked a lot of them how they met. The answer more and more is: through the internet.

So, go with it. we have a saying here in the Netherlands that loosely translated is: no try, no win.

I know a few people that found happiness in a mate from the Internet dating scene. Seems to be an effective means to weed out the BS and get right down to it… if that's what you want.

My buddy also found someone on a dating site. They've been very happily married for nearly a decade.

I found my wife/mother to my 2 kids on a dating site a little over 4 years ago. I was tired of all the bs to be honest, I didn't really take it serious on the dating site since my friend made me make a profile, but im glad I did make one.

Met my wife on Crash's old club forum. Wasn't looking for any relationship but on the one year anniversary of the day we met we got married. That was almost 10 years ago.

A bunch of us on another 1:1 wheeling forum were joining dating sites to see what kind of matches they came up with. Match.Com said there were no matches for me. :lmao:

I was married for 12yrs been single now for 3 & I'm digging it iv'e built 3 rc's a 5T ,SCX10 & a Losi night crawler this year & didn't catch s**t from anyone "thumbsup"

I've given it a peak lately on the Plenty Of Fish site. I've set some filters to streamline the replies that I would get, and it seems that all of the replies that I get are exactly what I don't want to meet. Maybe this what happens when using a free site.

What I didnt get is that there where people that wanted to meet me but
I couldn't see who they where, I paid 50 bucks and got the upgrade with
extra features and whatever.

In my eyes the site wasn't much good if people want to meet you but you
can't see who they are. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Anyway i'll give it another go.

Some cool stories of people meeting wives and that so it can obviously work.

A lot of these story's are from a few years ago, some of them, quite a few years ago.
I think these days things have changed a bit. The demands of the women are
pretty out there. I think a lot of them watch that Kardashians show.

I don't know if you have anything like the 'Meetup' website where you've at, if you do you can find a group with an interest that you have, it can be a great way to just get out and mingle w/ no pressure. I joined a pit bull rescue dog walking group about 2 years ago. It was mainly a way for me to get out and get some exercise and have some fun w/ dogs. Along the way I've met a few great people that also volunteer. When the group has fundraisers, the lady volunteers always bring their friends with them. "thumbsup"

Celebrated my 20th Anniversary in June. Met her the old fashioned way, at the beach, hung over from a party the night before. Saw her in a bikini & fell in love with her legs first. Started talking & fell in love with her smile. Started dating & fell in love with her.

Gotta get out & go where they go. The old fashioned way.
"thumbsup"

After my last one gave me PTSD and I ended up $17k in the hole, I'm pretty sure I'm never going to date again. I don't WANT anyone else in my life. I'll just get a dog if I get lonely.

And a hooker when you get horny....

I'm thinking this meet up thing might be a goer. We do have it here, and people have commented on it
to me. No pressure, all singles, and there's no preconceptions. You can see who's going but not much else
so you can't judge people till you get there and speak to someone.

If you don't find a girl, at least you went out for the day, and if your picking something you have an interest
in then it might be an awesome day regardless.

I'm focusing more on my business at the moment than much else, trying to get out more is definitely
something I have to address. I'm always out but not in social group settings.

First thing I want to do just for myself is go skydiving, then maybe take on some
group outings. It's something I've never done and might be a primer for new things.
