Dual battery ?

Moving the battery down to the rock sliders. Gonna carry two to balance the weight. Here's the question that I can't make up my mind on..... Do Y'all run the batteries in parallel for the increase in run time (mah) or just run single battery and switch out when one get's low?

Parallel for run times is what i do..usually a pair of 3s 2200mah up to 3300 according to what works best for whatever rig I am building

It's tough to video and drive at the same time....Used to have to work at this, now with the weight of an extra battery, she just goes up and over without a hitch.

I run my dual 3s 2200mah's wired parallel

My son runs his dual LiPo's... one at a time.
but both still reside on the sliders
to create an equal ballast.


I like the additional weight associated
with running dual 3s 2200's.

But doubt I'd want to go with a heavier LiPo.

I'm running 5000 mah 6 cell nihm, now one on each side, get 1 1/2 +/- hours out of one, has plenty of wheel speed with the 27t motor with 14/86 gears. I save my lipo's for the go fast trucks. I might go ahead and wire it for parallel when I get a little more wrench time available.

If you don't feel like making your own...

you can purchase a parallel "Y" harness
that includes dean ultra plugs for connection. (plug n play)

including those listed/sold on ebay.

Tho' I must add...
the Castle Creation's "Y" harness is decent quality
and possibly more durable then some others.

oh if you're going to run dual batteries parallel
be sure both battery's are equivalent
having the same voltage and mah

Yes sir know all about that.... Can make my own easy enough, have plenty of 10 Gauge wire and connectors. That way it gets made to fit the truck without a bunch of excess wire hanging around like spaghetti.

I tucked mine up next to the tranny since I don't run sliders anymore on that one. Same principle, though, and I run them parallel. 2200mAh each and usually I get bored before they get low.

with the batteries in the first pic in parallel thats 10000mah total, wow would probably run for ~2 hours! saddle packs work pretty well mounted on the sliders if you are looking for another option.

LoL.... getting close to 1.5+/- hours on one battery now.....Usually get bored with it before a battery ends unless I'm out trailing then I could see running parallel. Then again how hard is it to unplug one battery and plug in another.

So that's my thinking on the subject. Still undecided as there's really no real benefit except run time. Might just make a connector for those days I spend on the trail. Just trying to get a general consensus here to possibly sway me one way or another.

You should sway away from those ancient nimh batteries to start.
