SCREAMER's F-Bomber

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Any questions whatsoever, feel free to ask. There may be something you're wondering about that I didn't cover but I'm trying to hit on each significant aspect of performance.

DRM, I'm glad to post more pics. The crawler build hasn't really changed any since the last pics were posted except for the addition of the DLux rear sway bar. Anything specific you want to see or any particular angle?

Side view showing the stance and what you ended up doing with the spare on the crawler. You had mentioned maybe remounting it. If its same as previous photo, then no worries. Good stuff!

i knew i should have went with the MMX!! it just seemed like overkill, and it is huge.

i have the MMP and the holmes PP standard 3500kv and it is just what i want with a 10t pinion and running 3S.

Thats a great combo antikid, I ran that exact setup in my Wraith and loved it. I went with the MMX primarily because I knew I would be asking more of this bouncer build and just wanted to build everything with overkill being the standard. The extra features were definitely icing on the cake. I'm seriously considering getting with Erik at DLux for a set of his 1808 axles because I'm sure I'm going to have failure sooner or later and I really want to be able to drive this beast with as much power as the motor has to give. I'm also talking to CreeperBob about getting a custom set of his Ti axle shafts so I may try a set of those first and see how they hold up. I really can't overstate how much power the 540XL has even when compared to the 540 standard puller pro.

Here you go DRM. Not the best lighting but it should give you an idea of the proportions with the spare on a shortened wheelbase. I'm thinking it's not so great hanging out that far. If I did insist on running with the spare I would definitely find a way to move it forward like bilinvic did. I prefer running without it on either wheelbase. If it could somehow be mounted flat on the "bed" and flush with the rear bumper or even stood upright and down in the "trunk" area that'd be great.

Yikes. That's really sticking out huh? I may take a crack at drawing up a clamping mount in Sketchup that moves a new mount forward.

I think I really like the look with the shorter wheel base and no spare better.

For the basher, would you consider putting on the knuckle weights to keep the front end down?

You think the mmx will fit with a 540 motor and interior installed?

I agree. :ror: As far as putting knuckle weights on Qwiksilver, no way. I can keep the front end down with throttle control. In fact, one of the obstacles I mentioned earlier was only made possible by the fact that I could sort of bunny hop the car by snapping the throttle on then back off real quick. Knuckle weights definitely have a purpose on crawlers but this is no crawler. If you're running the stock transmission then you should be able to fit the MMX under the interior in the stock location. You'll just want to get it as far forward as possible but the interior has that really long flat dash to cover it up so it should fit. Motor length is really inconsequential.

Did you have a real world reason to shorten the wheel base? I'm liking the longer wheel base. It does look a little better though.

Tighter turning and better break over angle are the two benefits of a shorter wheelbase. Both improve crawling performance.

I was rid of it. I only put it back on because DRM wouldn't stop pestering me for a pic. I run without the spare on both bombers. Function over form always.

haha yeah he really wanted a pic ;) I don't blame him though. You've inspired some of my decisions on direction with the Bomber that is on some USPS truck somewhere between Reno NV and Salt Lake City UT. Can't wait!

Adding that weight higher on the chassis would adversely affect handling so that's a definite no. The crawler has all Wraith length links. The bouncer has Wraith front, Yeti rear. "thumbsup"

Small update on Qwiksilver. Got the side nets installed and the livery on the side aluminum panels. I like these nets much better than the rubber nets on the F-Bomber. These seem pretty sturdy. I love this rig and I'm very pleased with how she turned out. I'm still waiting on BPC's stainless skid to be released for the Bomber but other than that, these two rigs are pretty much buttoned up. Any more questions, keep firing away. I'm glad to help anyone I can. Thanks again for all the kind words guys. I'll post up with more info after I get them both on the trail a while.

Coming along nicely. I wanted to do the same on the panels, turned out good. The nets look so much better then the rubber ones. Are you not going to run an interior?
