2017 Scale Rules

On that note, would a fiberglass body be allowable? I could see using the inside of a lexan body as a mold for a hardbody not available. I have some kevlar and carbon fiber mat laying around, in need of a project.

As long as you maintained the .060 minimum thickness. That's why we have the minimum, to allow for innovation.

i think you guys need to lock the sorrca fb down to just announcements from mods, and put a link to here or wherever you want to direct people to discussions that are more manageable and linear. at least here on rcc its a linear discussion that stays put in one thread. you can moderate, quote, move, etc.

facebook is great for flex friday and status updates and all that but it is absolutely horrible for valid discussions, especially when it seems some people get off more on being dicks over semantics and nitpicking just to lead a committee member into a fallible comment they can attack.

i'd very much like to talk about fantasy/fun/soulless drivers and passengers getting full driver and passenger points as long as they look like they are operating the vehicle controls. but if i bring that up on fb it would either create a huge mess or be completely unnoticed due to everybody talking all at once across 2 or 3 different posts or buried convos inside someones reply.

I agree above that the facebook is out of hand!

From an outsider looking in, (although I will be at scale nats lol) the scale scene looks like a bunch of whining babies and by discussions alone will not attract any new comers to the hobby. It is doing a good job of scaring them away though.

There are a 1000's questions regarding rule bending or flexibility. The easy answer is, build your rig so there are no questions as to whether your build is legal or not. If it floats on the line of questionable, it is up to the event organizing staff to pass or fail such items. If your rule flexing does not pass, then you better find out how to make it pass. Or boohoo on you..

Its been this way in comp crawling for some time. Its easier to have one upset driver then 40-200 at events. If your serious about competitive scale crawling, you will abide by those rules.

I think you skipped over the title when reading.
Full Interior Driver/Passenger (1 passenger maximum):

i was just asking cause i read bads post was all. bottom part of his post

it used to read so many for the driver and then so many for the passenger just a little confused is all my bad.

"huge mess <~> due to everybody talking all at once across 2 or 3 different posts or buried convos inside someones reply".

Agree, it also seems they are questioning rules that have been around a while as well. All while complaining about the release date of the 2017 rules/updates. IMO, Here they have so much to read in a organized way, they shouldn't have time to be dicks to committee members by twisting their words or baiting replies to quote out of context. When I read questions here, they don't seem as confused or conflicted, more so curious and or inquisitive. Minus the occasional debate or poke in the gills... Even those seem to be more classy and progressive here. FB just seems like a chat room without the means to call order.

Small wording discrepancy had me confused until I read through the previous pages and figured out that "thickness" is meant as depth or width of a slider/bumper.

• Flat plate may be any thickness(depth or width) with a minimum of 1/2”. IE, it can be bent but 2 measured sides added together must equal at least 1/2”.

Didn't know if that is worth changing or not to avoid others being confused. I may just be a simpleton and need to keep my helmet on.... In that case, excuse me."thumbsup"

the rules say

• Cage must be affixed to
a rigid floor board, fender well, slider, bumper or structural part of the chassis.

a cage like this:

F23134551.jpg

is affixed on to a rigid floor board only in the front part.
the rear part is fixed on the body (wheels wells)

does it take points?

tks for answer.

An other question.

• Inner fender wells: - 1 per pair

• Rigid flat metal/plastic body panels - 1

this are reported only to "Custom built hard body"?

or this are paid on all type of body?

Yup - It connects to the fenderwells in the back

Fender wells no - that applies to any body.

Body panels are for tubers or a roll cages attached to ladder frames in the lower classes.

I have two questions please,
in Class 1, you can replace the fenders as in this case?

In Class 1 is legal cut the body to change the wheelbase , lengthen or shorten ?

"Dovetailing the rear *a truggy/tube bed that is narrower than the cab counts as a dovetail* (1/2 the width
of the widest part of the cab)."

Does a truggy cage have to be wider than half the width of the cab?

we wait for official answer... but
we have the same question from other point of view

• The vehicles body must be mostly intact. Only mild trimming
is allowed, such as removing: flairs, trim, molding & a hardtop

where is the limit?

I can remove the fender and replace with bigger one,
but all is ok? replace the fender of 2" with one of 20"
it allow a truck width of 40" bigger!!!
A truck with 40" more large of original one and with 40"
of distance between the wheels.
The truck will be appear like a monster with big fender..
not a c1 with aftermarket fenders..
I think this is not so good or nice.

Cut the body to change the wheelbase?
like this? very nice:

I think it is no c1 but... c2..(A stock vehicle that has been modified)

If Someone want a different wheelbase simple have to choose a different body. Is It so?

Sorry Devilman, and please,
my question (not personal questions, but questions of Italian users)
are for Official Sorrca USA Staff,
i need one official answer, not your opinion... thanks

I haven't aswered to you! It isn't my role..
I have made a question about the fender replace, too...
And remark problem of change wheelbase cutting body,
with the risks (see photo), asking for confirmation...
I think I can ask the questions, as I like me (you too, obviusly) , nothing
of personal, I have used your post only for example.

My questions are from other italian users (I am from Soorca Liguria team, remember?)
for Official Sorrca USA Staff.

I wait for official answer, too "thumbsup"
