So got a the spektrum dx4c for my bomber. Running the mamba x esc and a hh 3300kv brushless motor. first question, I hit a water hole a little bit ago and it was deeper than I thought and the receiver got wet some how and it started to really trip out so to speak. It dont want to run right. I pull the throttle all the way and and it starts to take off but then just stops release the trigger and pull again and does the same thing over and over. has some strange sounds as well almost like grinding sound. what the hell did I do.
second question I looked through the manual for the spektrum and cant figure out how to set it up to turn the lights I am running off and on. thank yall in advance any and all imput and help

I'm not familiar with the DX4C so don't hold me to my word. Does the DX4C have a 3 way 3rd, or 4th channel switch? If not I don't think you can, without buying something extra. I'm sure the vendor here HeyOk electronics has something that would help you out. Go to the vendors section and look for his post that has all his producats in it.

Grinding probably isn't an Rx issue. Try to isolate the sound by testing the differentials, trans, etc independently.

As for the quirky behavior, it could be the Rx, or it could be the ESC got water inside. Which Holmes motor did you get, not all brushless are waterproof.

To switch your lights on and of via your Radio u will need first an RX Switch and second a free channel 3rd or 4th or.... set this channel up to a 2 pos (on/off). I use as RX Switch this one from HK https://hobbyking.com/en_us/dr-mad-thrust-electronic-on-off-switch.html (waterproofed it with plastidip:mrgreen:) but u can find these on several places and as mentioned heyok makes nice light controllers just visit the vendor section so u can control more lights if u want (break turn drive....).
As my RX saw water first time (didn't saw the wave comming 8)) my little monster went crazy... let it dry and no issues. Back home i used seal spray (liquid PVC, it's transparent so i can see the led still) and waterproofed it also. No issues since, even if i submerging it "thumbsup" most electronics will function as before after getting wet if u let them dry. (storing in a bag full of rice isn't a bad idea ;-))

When I bought my bomber kit and electronics for it I bought everything waterproof. I like to play in water and mud. Told the lhs that as well when I bought everything. I made sure all was waterproof. Box for Holmes motor stated it was water proof as well. I had just got done going through the transfer case and trans and completley regreased them both. Everything turned like butter. thats why I went straight to thinking it is electronics. its been in the river before never had a problem till I hit this water hole and it just literaly stopped this time.

In a river, you probably have some silt or sand in something, whether that be gears or motor is hard to say.

Did u Check the Motor. Turning it by hand if the grinding comes that direction.

No I didn't think to do that. I just came in last night and took out the rx and moved the esc to air out. Everything was supposed to be water proof at least that's what all the boxes said lol. I tried it this morning put a battery in and held it and hammered it and it ran like it always did. I have know idea what happened to it.

Don't have to be caused by the Board of the ESC maybe a cable.

kinda what I thought, but I decided to look at the boxes for the electronics and noticed the mamba x box says waterproof but then it says its not intended to run while fully submerged and it was fully submerged so i'm thinking that might have been it.
