TRX-4 In stores

Had to go into Spokane yesterday so I stopped by the Hobbytown USA and they didn't have a demo, in fact, the guy didn't even know what the TRX-4 was. #sad

IDK, running an LHS is a tough gig, to be fair.

If you stick to one aspect of the hobby (eg. Cars/trucks), you wind up serving a niche within a niche, and it's hard to support that long term.

On the other hand, being experienced and knowledgeable in every aspect of RC is also tough. It's possible that guy could tell you how to outfit an 80"+ wingspan scale warbird in sharp detail, and give a thorough briefing on how to choose the exact size, diameter, and pitch of the prop you need, but literally didn't get the memo about "yet another new Traxxas truck."

Oh, and then even if you, the shop owner are well versed and experienced in all hobby aspects, you can't be manning the con every single day; you need to find employees (generally willing to work for a low wage), that are also as knowledgeable.

Not saying it's not frustrating to deal with the lack of knowledge from local shops, but simply that I can understand where they're coming from.

Not sure if I would classify a Hobbytown USA branch as an LHS, I went there for a demo cuz there's no way I would buy from them.

There are two LHS's within 25 minutes of my place and I won't go in now cuz I'd walk out with a pre-order receipt and I can't afford another tiny truck right now:)

my LHS (Phil's Hobby) has 4 for sale but apparently they have to be sold at a brick and mortar store until the end of June. The owner said they had to sign a contract with Traxxas not to sell it in their online store. I say good on traxxas for putting the locals shops on for the first sale rights!

ooh, and I got to drive the demo. pretty smooth operator...

picked mine up tuesday, and couldn't be happier with it. and lucky me, they're in the middle of a huge construction project right next to my work, so i get to have all the fun when i'm done for the day. :)

new body is definitely first thing on the list tho. man, does she love falling over when off-camber

Got mine today. First order of business was to remove that tumor on top with a full rack-ectomy. Much better.

I just weighed the roof rack I removed along with the spare wheel and tire, jack, fuel cans, and rear mount bracket. All together I removed 9 ounces from the top most and rear most part of the truck. That's going to make a pretty big difference in performance. I like the way it looks too. Kinda like a tank fornicated with a school bus.

Picked mine up yesterday. Will most likely be removing the top rack as screamer did as well.

Definitely looks better without the rack and wheel but I think the wheel will protect the back which seems to have zero protection without the wheel. I can imagine lots of cracks in the back if it likes to roll over as much as guys say it does.

The Traxxas body is much more sturdy than any Axial body I've ran on much heavier builds. Even after everything is removed from the back door, the inner bracing still remains and ties the body together for plenty of strength. The mount screws go right back into the holes anchoring the body to the inner bracing. There's two body alignment spikes that also tie into the rear bumper for added strength. This thing is a tank compared to my Axial trucks but is still very light. It's just built incredibly well.

saw the dealer display model a few weeks ago. put down a deposit for a pre order.
4 grays arrived last week, one of em mine !!
put seversl battery packs/miles on it, no problems other than pinion too far fwd on mtr shaft.
having a ball !!

Had one pre-ordered from Tower, date moved so I made a weekend trip to a LHS and they had one in stock! Got about an hour running it stock and very impressed compared to the Axial rigs I have had. Body on my list too, Maybe tires... That's about all I need! Well take that back, stock servo is weak, that's also getting changed.

6 on my lhs shelves. In the next RPP message they still have no clue when they'll get them in. Ordered 5-3-17. They won't allow me to cancel the order to buy from my shop. At the least I learned about this specific policy.

Ugh! That's a really shitty policy! I love RPP, but knowing that I will never preorder from them. Thanks for the heads up!
