Scale cucv (1984 chevy k30 for the military) build questions

I have thought about something like this for awhile since I own 1:1 cucv, and after getting my wife a scx10ii I know what platform I want to use. I do have a few questions though 1. My truck is leaf spring all around is this something that can be done with the scx10ii (I haven't seen any) 2. I've never done anything with a hard body should I start with a clodbuster body and modify it or build from scratch 3. I assume if I keep it like the stock 1:1 it'll be a c1 truck but what if I put different bumpers on it ( never comped but I'd like to try it) 4. This is a long bed full size truck will that sort of wheel base still be able to perform 5. Should I start with a kit or from scratch since I will be changing so much anyway.

No this in not a SCX10 II ~ It's my Old RC4WD Trail Stomper chassis with a Clodbuster body.
May be better off going that route. Or any RC4WD Chassis with a 11 1/2" wheelbase.

I just ran out to the parking lot and did a rough mesument and my wheel base is about 135 inches so a 13.5 inch wheel base is what I'd like to shoot for I know it'll require cutting up a clod body or scratch building one which is what I'd like to try. Also I love the brush guard did you make it?

I looked up the trail finder2 lwb and it's wheel base is a little over a inch shorter than what I think I want. If I start from frame rails what would be the difference I kinda had my heart set on the scx10ii.

I think the LWB Trail finder 2 will be good. The Regular Wheelbase supports a K5 Blazer which is essentially the Square Body Chevy short bed truck

Also recommend going with a TF2 if you want to be scale and run leaf spring suspension

I built a K10 using the RC4WD Blazer body as a base, and mounted onto an SCX10-II chassis.

My build thread can be found here.

I am currently building another one similar to that one as I've since sold that truck. I am also building a K10 (a little more scale version) on a CMAX chassis, which seems phenomenal so far.

The Clod body is a bit small for 10.2 axles unless you narrow them or just don't mind them sticking out. The RC4WD K5 body is a better width but you would have to cut a couple up to make it look like a long bed. Those bodies alone aren't all that expensive, it is when you start adding all the scale bits and pieces.

A long wheelbase TF2 would be a good base if you want to do leaf sprung, but one thing to keep in mind is that you can not drive a leaf sprung truck as hard as you can drive a linked truck.

That cmax chassis looks like the ticket with plenty of wheel base do you have build thread for that truck? Also does anyone make later model grills for the rc4wd blazer body?

CMAX are also on sale right now too (15% off)! I don't have a build thread for mine yet, however Chris at GCM has some YouTube videos for the chassis assembly and new2rocks has a pretty nice assembly write up on the SBG Forum.

GCM has a Shapeways store with a bunch of parts to mount the Blazer body to the chassis too, I've bought all of them and Shapeways print quality is amazing. Nothing like most of the printed items you see out there.

Good luck!
