What did you do to/with your Ascender today

Had some of these laying around that I never used and they look pretty close in length as the stock shock shafts. Does anyone know if they will work. I won’t be able to use the Ascender pistons unless I drill the center out and use a clip to hold it in place. I guess the only benefit would be they have the nitrate coating so less stiction and they would look cool with the gold coating.

Pick up 2 packs of the Traxxas shock rebuild kit # TRA2362
$2.50 each. Throw away the Vaterra o-rings. Just use the thin washer in-between the X-rings and coat them in associated green slime. When screwing on the caps do not tighten them , you want them to be just a tick over snug. Then enjoy some leak free shocks.

Nice thanks, I was looking for some that would work but the ones I have are too big. Since I got the aluminum shock bodies all they have done is leak. Actually the first couple packs they are good then after that they get a little messy.

My RTR and kit stock plastic shocks have been leak free, same for my Vaterra aluminum shocks. I internally limit all of them to keep the stance low and crawl better imo.

Rebuilding with new o-rings and Green Slime should fix it, X-rings are even better. :)

I always use associated slime but still ends up leaking. Next time I rebuild I’ll use the x rings.

The Traxxas 2656T titanium nitride coated shafts should work with Ascender pistons without drilling the piston centers out, I can measure stock shaft length tonight if you want. The stock pistons are held on the shaft with two e-clips same as Traxxas. Those shafts should have less stiction and wear longer due to the coating. "thumbsup"

Always fully insert the shock shaft/piston from the top of shock before installing the o-rings or x-rings, then install the greased rings onto shaft with spacer, gently press them into the shock body and seat them with the screw on retaining cap, always seals good and never a buggered o-ring. "thumbsup"

That’s right, I was thinking my Baja rey shocks that I just rebuilt. Holding them up they look like they are the same. I m going to get the traxxas rebuild kit and try it tonight

I’ve been struggling with torque twist like everyone else for over a year and did all the mods including anti-sway bar and then I installed 90mm TRX4 shocks and removed the swaybar and it twists less than my 10.2. Our first local event was last Sunday and was really happy with the performance.

Got some new GMade beadlocks and Hyrax tires. I like the TSL’s I just put on but since I’m mostly in rocks I figured I’d try them out.

Hope this works. Going to try it as soon as I get a chance. My new aluminum Vaterra shocks are leaking on my Ascender and all I did was run it to check my new electronics. Great looking shocks but leaking is not cool. I have lots of those Traxxas rebuild kits at are shop so will try it. Got my fingers crossed.:)

I love the looks of these wheels, can’t wait to scratch them up. I’m going to have to finally get the 4 runner body and paint to match them. They have some decent weight to them but I still added a couple oz. Anyone know how much weight you can add before you need to worry about breaking axles

Watched it pull in the parking lot and then drive off. Stupid FedEx driver pulls in, walks up with a missed delivery tag, and then drives off before anyone could get to the door.
That's better than my situation, working 20 or so days away from home and can only get my fix by reading everyone's post and dream about what I can do when I get days off. So everyone please help my sickness and post up some good reading or good movies. Thanks!

Pick up a Twin Hammers. Small enough to fit in a backpack and be with you most anywhere

Not when 30 or so knuckleheads keeping me busy all repairing 30 or so pieces of equipment, but I've been thinking on getting a 1:24 crawler to buzz around the well site.

Picked up a Hobbywing 1080 the other day. Working on installing it in the truck. Fits nicely in the receiver box “fuel cell”. Will I get any interference with the esc so close to the receiver? Paint pen is there to hold the esc in place during mock up.
