Going to be getting a new servo and have narrowed it down to the savox 2290 or the protek 170t. Both have a ridiculous amount of torque which is why they are my top choices. The case on the protek looks a little stronger with all the bolts holding it together but have not heard of any issues with the 2290. Which would you pick? Which one is quieter? I will be running it at 7.4 volts if that makes a difference.

Use the code savox at checkout at dluxfab.com and the 2290 is $120.

I'll believe the reefs rc claims when I see them. So far they touted 555oz since the first day that relabeled chicom servo landed on the shore. Once dlux started selling the 2290 at their price that "645 oz is our real number!" Bs started.

Hey WT, I see you have been using the 2290 for some time now and have used a 1283 in the past, is the 2290 as loud as the 1283? I have been beating the piss out of a 1283 for a few years now and the only thing I don't like about it is the constant noise. I'm hoping the 2290 is quieter.

I love my 2290. I'm running it at 7.4V in my Class 2 and it has been flawless. Tons of torque, smooth, and its fast. I bought another from Dlux the other day for $120. This one will make its way into my Class 3.

Nope, it's not whisper quiet but it isn't super chatter happy either. It has typical digital servo chatter.

If only the 2290 was waterproof.

Because conformal coating is hard? I just stay out of the water and don't have issues. No dolls means they don't need baths. :flipoff:

It must be difficult since Savox doesn't do it. :flipoff:

Add conformal coating to any servo and you just voided the warranty. Hence, why it's easier to buy servos that come waterproofed.

I'm not a witch. I'm not scared of water. I won't melt.

Warranty? Get the fawk outta here with that stupid hitech fanboi-ism crap. They love to tout that they'll be spending the next decade owning no less than 2 of each servo so they'll always have a good one while the other is in the mail. Junk.

I ****ing hate Hitec. Hitec is the only servo company that I ever needed to file a warranty claim against. The replacement servo was also a POS.

If you want to buy the Protek, send me a PM. I have a coupon that I'm not going to use.

I wouldn't spend my money on a Protek 170T, $140 is way too much for a servo with multiple brass gears. If you meant the 170TBL, that looks like a much better servo (brushless motor, no brass gears).

The Savox 2290 would still be my choice.

Jato, you know that we love ya, man..."thumbsup"

(Now, about that list...)

I'm the most hated man on the internet. Or at least on RCC. Good thing I don't care. :lmao:

For that list. Hates - onions. Loves - cookies

:lmao:

I went ahead and ordered the 2290 from dlux and it showed up yesterday. Got it installed today and all I can say is holy s***! This thing is a beast at 7.4 volts. I can't get it to stall on my 7.5 pound 2.2 rig. Absolutely happy with my choice. Thanks for all the input guys!

Added plus for the 2290, you get this baller aluminum horn.
