The French Canadian Bomber (First-time Build)

That's why I'm only going to run 2 light bars, one front and one rear that plug into a y-connector and into the receiver. Gearhead RC...
Yeah i could do that right now but the more voltage to the lights, the brighter they will be.
With this setup, they will get power directly on 3s.

If i fail, i will fall back to the receiver option.

Not denigrating your setup at all, my lights won't be super bright, probably won't be night running...I chose mine for simplicity and looks!

Oh i know, simplicity is really not part of this build and sometimes i wonder why i had to get a Kit... [emoji23]

In Montréal we don't have a choice to run at night. For many months it's dark outside around 4pm to 6pm so...

Summer is better, i might even trade the roof lightbar for an FPV setup since darkness won't come until 10pm in july.

Excellent build thread and all the pictures too. I know all about border customs frustrations as my Bomber MIP driveshafts are still not in my hands after over a month!

I got the hot racing shock mounts so i will be able to try another configuration for the rock lights.

I also received the aluminium roof from barndog racing. It will be outfitted with a permanent fixture for the GoPro camera. This way i can swap between my painted roof and the camera roof as needed.

I also got myself another "outside the truck" upgrade [emoji41]

So i tried and tried and tried but at some point you have to let go in order to move forward.

The rock lights on the axle will have to be left behind for now. They either hit the servo arm too much, point upwards too much and lose the "rock lights" usefulness.
Plus they add lots of wires up front and it gets tangled up with the upper links and servo wires.

It just dosen't meet the quality i want [emoji26]...

The harness to plug them will still be there but i need to figure out a better way to mount them before i use them.

Another battle won! This war is almost over...

The wiring is now under mostly control. There is only 3 connections between the cage and the skid so it's not that bad.

Electronics experts and OCD neatfreaks prepare to be shocked, it may rank among the worse wiring job on this forum... [emoji53]

But on the bright side, i can now install the body panels, the shocks and put stickers on while i wait for the heads which are still 500km north of Montréal being painted.

I decided to redo the whole wiring setup since it was very messy and tangled up.
It dosen't look much better but it's actually more organised and easier to connect.

I also mounted up the interior tray but i can't finalize the cage until i get my heads back from paint.

Kinda stuck for now but i will work on the Stickers and Decals.

Not much has changed since last time but the build will have a little delay again. I finally decided to go ahead and buy Gmade XDs shocks to get rid of the kit blue kings that don't really fit my colors.

I got 2 sets of Gmade 103mm Diaphragm (GMA22007). They are black with red accents and they have the aluminium shock cap at least. The piggybacks were too big since i use headlights and the aeration had a plastic shock cap.
They will be built with the Traxxas GTR x-rings (TRA2362).
They come with the ''medium'' spring and i picked-up 2 sets of ''soft'' springs just in case.

I'm currently working on the body panels decals and stickers and i received some good news this week. I was able to score a set limited edition stickers from the newly created World Radio Controlled Crawler Association (WRCCA). It's a golden founder's edition set, limited to 110 world-wide.

Hopefully i'll have a little unique *Bling Bling* for a while.

Little update for the new shocks. I decided to go ahead and buy the Gmade XD 103mm shocks. No more blue shocks on my red build !

For the price it's unbelivable and the diaphragm model has an aluminium cap.
I also go the ''soft'' springs to have more optins to play with.

Come in a nice bag with all the instructions and even oil. I also got Traxxas rebuild kits (#2362) to get the nice X-rings.
Didn't take step by step pictures since we've all built shocks before and there is better guides on youtube for the newcomers.

Still waiting on the heads...

The GMade shocks look awesome and work well. I have to try the Traxxas X-rings at some point.

I like those shocks. What spring options are there out there?

Well they are 19x68 springs and so far i haven't found any replacement except the ones Gmade sell themselves. They come with the medium spring and i bought the soft springs as the same time. There is also a set of hard springs.

From my limited experience, the soft ones seem on par with the Bomber kit rear so pretty soft.
The medium are just a little harder but not even close to the Bomber kit front.

I might have to order the hard springs if my front end sags too much with the DMG steel bumber and Battery.

I almost forgot it's bonus season at work and i might grab some aluminium wheels to add some weight and since i went all out on most things, might as well dress up the shoes.

Can't make up my mind between these :
Matt Silver / Red ring
Black / Red ring
Red / Black ring

Red and silver is my main color but i might be too much
Black and red is the current setup (painted plastic wheels)

I hate not being able to try things before i buy, damn LHS dosen't carry much wheels.

My kid is sick and i stayed home with him for the past 2 days. I had time on my hands and decided to finish the body panels on the Bomber.

Then i did a mock up...then i said **** it and installed everything :)

I'm still missing the heads and some scale accessories like the window nets and the high-lift jack but its....AWESOME !

I'm really happy with the final look and can't wait to get it dirty !

First up the mecanical side :

Then the eye-candy :
FYI, the number 4 is there since i'm born on the 14th, my girlfriend on the 4th and my son on the 24th !

That's gonna be a very race-style rig, like direct from the pits at KOH!

Looking fantastic, my man... the red & white was an inspired choice, makes the sponsorship decals really "pop".

Kinda have to get that Puller Pro 540-L now huh?

If only there were races near Montréal, i could get a real sponsorship from Holmes!
